THIS WEEK'S CONTENT & SKILLS
ELAGSE5RL9: Compare and contrast stories in the same genre (e.g., mysteries and adventure stories) on their approaches to similar themes and topics.
ELAGSE5RL2: Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text, including how characters in a story or drama respond to challenges or how the speaker in a poem reflects upon a topic; summarize the text.
GRAMMAR
5L4 b. Use common, grade-appropriate Greek and Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word (e.g., photograph, photosynthesis).
WRITING
5W1: Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
SOCIAL STUDIES
SS5H6 Describe the importance of key people, events, and developments between 1950- 1975. d. Discuss the significance of the technologies of television and space exploration.
VIRTUAL SCHOOL
- Mrs. Akin's Google Meet
- Ms. Kelly's Google Meet
- Morning Meetings with Mrs. Akin & Ms. Kelly will take place on Google Meet every Monday-Thursday @ 9:00 & 9:30. Mrs. Akin's homeroom will meet with Mrs. Akin at 9:00 and Ms. Kelly at 9:30, while Ms. Kelly's homeroom will meet with Ms. Kelly at 9:00 and Mrs. Akin @ 9:30.
- Small Groups will take place on Google Meet every Monday-Thursday (Mrs. Akin will test this out this week and Ms. Kelly will begin small groups next week.)
- Office Hours for Mrs. Akin & Ms. Kelly are Monday-Friday @ 12:45-1:30 and 2:15-3:00. Students and parents can ask academic or technical questions on Google Meet during these times.
- Fridays will be reserved for 5th Grade Connections/Specials (Art @ 9:00, PE @ 9:30, French @ 10:00, and Music @ 10:30) and Exhibition Assignments @ 11:30.
- ESOL & Challenge: ESOL and Challenge/Gifted teachers are working out a schedule for students who receive these services. More info to come.
