Gala, Pi Day, Kids4Kids
9th Annual Gala is this Saturday!
Dear Parents,
It’s not too late to buy your tickets or sponsor a teacher, if you haven’t already.

It’s going to be a fun night with live music from Stew and the Crew, a great opportunity to mingle with fellow WHE parents and bid on some amazing auction items. All funds raised goes directly to our school!
And, if you like to help with set up on Friday and Saturday, please email Linnea and Sena.

See you all there!!
Monday, March 14 – Pi Day
Please read the following letter about Pi Day that is coming up:
Pi Day (Monday, March 14th) is fast approaching and we're starting to hear the buzz of 3.1415.....around campus! Lots of fun activities planned for the day, and one thing that each class will definitely want to bring in - PIES! For the general sign up to help out with the activities, please sign up here: Pi Day help - Monday, March 14th, 2016.
This is to help run the activities and help the day run smoothly! It's a fun day to be a part of, so please sign up! Every class is responsible for getting their own pies, forks, plates, knives and napkins. Your individual room parent will tell you how to sign up to bring pies, etc. (there is no place on my sign up). (Mr. Page's class still needs 2 more pies. Please let us know if you would like to contribute) If possible, make sure to include pies that have not been processed on the same equipment or contain peanuts (and please note which pies would be okay for a child with allergies to eat). Hopefully there will be a lot of options so all of our kids can enjoy some pie! Also **and this is very important** pies MUST be store bought. This is an LAUSD rule, for every school in the district. I'm sure your homemade rhubarb pie is delish (mine is!), but the pies must be purchased at a store or bakery. Finally, here is the run down of the day so you can watch your child in the memorizing contest, etc.
Everyone meets on the middle yard for Pi Day kick off on Monday, March 14th at 8:30 am.
tk-1st grade - Auditorium for memorizing contest at 8:45, move to bungalow area at 9:15 for math/physical activities
2nd-3rd grade - Bungalows for math activities and physical activities at 8:45, move to auditorium at 9:15 for memorizing contest.
4th - 5th grade - Back to classrooms until 11 am. At 11 am, auditorium for memorizing contest. 11:45, to bungalow area for math/physical activities
Parents should start setting up the pie (tk-kinder will have pie on their yard, 1st grade will be on the yard near their bungalows, Ms. Chun will be at the tables near her bungalow, Ms. Melzer will be near the garden area, and 3-5th will be at the cafeteria tables) at approximately 1:40 or so. Parents of the kids (in 3rd-5th) who have won the t-shirt contest will be notified via email before the day so that they can be present. And, I'll do my best to email/text parents whose children have won memorizing contest.
Everyone to bungalow area for prize announcements at 2 pm. Pi day awards wrap up, and everyone goes to where their pie is waiting at approximately 2:20. Enjoy the pie, and bell rings at usual time, 2:45.
Thanks in advance for your help, and for getting your child psyched for Pi Day! Please email Rachel with questions: rachelcue@yahoo.com
