They are $15 per ticket. Tickets will not be sold at the dance; students must have their ticket (key chain) and a school ID to enter the dance.
Only currently enrolled high school students (Grades 9-12) will be allowed to attend the dance. Students should read the form carefully and follow the directions; all guests must be approved by Mrs. Lee.
North students and their guests should arrive together and check-in at a table with Mrs. Lee. She will have a list of students and guests that completed the required paperwork and only students and guests that completed the required paper work will be allowed to enter.
Omaha Film Festival's 48 Hour Challenge
The 48 Hour challenge launched 9/14 and we had 3 teams participate. The challenge is hosted by the Omaha Film Festival (OFF#48). The evening of Friday the 14th, a representative from each team (or the whole team) meets at the OFF offices and pick a genre from a popcorn bucket. They are then told the line and the prop that has to be used in the film. This year the prop was a rolodex and the line was “It doesn’t usually do that”. Students had 48 hours to film and edit their 5- minute film and submit it back to the OFF offices on Sunday. The films premiered on September 24th at the Aksarben theaters.
Participants in this year’s challenge were:
Team 1: Jaimee Jindra
Team 2: Hayley Johnson
Team 3: Gabe Kuncl, Mandy Tran, Solomi Musa and Charles Gaxiola
A group of 6 students from the journalism and AV Tech class joined a group of Vietnam Vets called the Spooky Brotherhood, who meet in Omaha for an annual reunion, to record the events of their day. It was a wonderful experience for both the students and the reunion group. Three of the students rode with the Vets on Ollie the Trolley to the SAC museum for a tour and lunch. The other 3 students traveled on another trolley and went on a riverboat ride and lunch with the women. They reunited at the Boys Town campus for a tour. That evening, they meet up with the group again for dinner at the German American club. The reunion group had nothing but good things to say about our students.
Here is an excerpt from the email that our staff received:
Ms. Natalie Runyon,
Ms. Shelby Schmidt,
I cannot Thank you and Ms. Shelby Schmidt enough. The students were excellent and demonstrated the type of education they are receiving. Omaha North High School was very well represented.
We are working on a Special Thank you for them and will contact you when everything is ready. All the people enjoyed having them with us.
The students that were involved in this project are, Emma Hansen, Gabby Push, LaTaija Broadway, Jaimee Jindra, Molly Schmeits and Samantha Keetle. Our students expressed to us that they would like more of these opportunities in the future!
