Legacy Point Thursday Folder
February 15, 2024
Happy Thursday LPE Families!
Tomorrow, Friday, 2/16 is a teacher professional development day. Our teachers have an exciting opportunity to meet with the other elementary schools in our feeder area to discuss writing instruction and assessment. Teachers will be sharing instructional strategies and collaborating with grade level peers in the morning. In the afternoon, teachers will be back at Legacy Point getting ready for our Legacy Review day, revisiting future writing instruction, and collaborating with their teams. We are excited about all of the wonderful things we are going to be learning about tomorrow!
Student Led Conferences are being held February 28 and 29. You should have received a sign up from your child's teacher. PTIB is providing dinner for our staff for these two evenings. Please use the signup link below to help provide meals! Thank you!
CMAS Testing will be April 2 - April 4 for grades 3-5 English Language Arts and Math and April 9-10 for 5th grade Science. Participation in CMAS is important because results help students, parents, schools and districts understand whether students have mastered the content they need to know by the end of the school year. Schools and districts use CMAS results to help improve instruction and to better support students who need more help mastering the standards. Parents can use CMAS scores to see how their students and schools are doing compared to other students and schools across the district, the state and the nation.
The testing schedule for each grade level is posted on our website. We will be testing ELA in the morning and Math in the afternoon on April 2 - 4. 5th Grade Science will be tested in the morning and afternoon of April 9 and the morning of April 10. Please refrain from scheduling appointments, vacations, or other events during testing days. We appreciate your help and understanding.
Have a great weekend!

Leader in Me Legacy Status Update
Over the past few months, our staff and students have been getting ready for our Leader in Me Legacy Status review. We are currently one of 31 schools in the state of Colorado that have Lighthouse status, and if we are approved will be one of the first schools in the state to achieve this prestigious honor. Our Legacy Review date is February 22, and we will be showcasing all of the wonderful things we do to promote leadership and learning in our students. We will be hosting 3 people from Franklin Covey who will be walking our halls, observing our classrooms, and speaking with a panel of students and parents to get an idea of what everyday life looks like here at Legacy Point. We should know fairly quickly if we have passed our review.

Physical activity has been proven to help boost self-esteem and focus while decreasing anxiety and depression. Despite these positive effects on mental health, many children and teens don’t get the recommended amount of physical activity. So how can you help your child be more active and support their mental health? Experts at Children’s Hospital Colorado share important tips on how parents and caregivers can make exercise fun and enjoyable for children of all ages.
