Message From Your Proud Principal
Well, we sure did pack a lot into a four day week. This week was filled with lots of learning and fun! From the Korean Choir to the 100th Day Celebration, to the Great Bicycle Race...these are the things that make school so memorable.
On Monday, we will celebrate Lunar New Year and we encourage all students who celebrate to wear their festive attire. It makes me proud to know that we celebrate with one another and embrace the rich culture we have at Parsons. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Lunar New Year!
Parsons Celebrates 100 Days of Learning
Camp Read S'MORE
Be sure to mark your calendars for a fun filled night at Camp Read S'MORE on Thursday, February 23, from 6:00pm -7:30pm. Parsons' staff will host parents and students for a night of reading and literacy activities. Be sure to complete the Google Survey below to let us know which topics you would like for Parent Breakout Sessions. Stay tuned for more information.
Korean Children's Choir Visit
Our Dual Language students got a treat this week! They were thoroughly entertained by this incredible group who had just finished performing at Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, as well as the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. Our hearts burst when they performed "It's a Small World After All." It is so true!
The Great Bike Race
The Great Bike Race was a success. Again, we want to thank all our families for participating in our fundraiser. I may not ever ride a bike again(LOL), but it was fun and the kids loved it!
Parsons PTA Fundraiser Presents...
I am super excited to share with you a picture of what our upper playground equipment is going to look like. As we jumped through the many hoops of approval in hopes that we could have the playset installed in early Spring, it looks like it will not be installed until late Spring or early Summer. I wanted to give a special thank you to all of you who participated in the fundraiser by donating money to go towards the new playground equipment. When we asked our students what they would like to buy with the fundraiser money it was unanimous...PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT!
AKS At Home
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families of children in grades K-5 so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that suits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information, and gain tools and suggestions on how to best help their children through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics. Click the link for more information. https://www.gcpsk12.org/domain/13286
GCPS Student Media Festival Call for Entries
The media festival is open to all students in GCPS and celebrates the talents and visions of student digital media producers. Projects are accepted in the following categories: animation, interactive stills, live action, podcast, website, and sequential stills. For more information, please visit https://publish.gwinnett.k12.ga.us/gcps/myhome/gcpstv/videos/students/smf/info
Georgia Milestones Information for Grades 3rd-5th
Parent information regarding Georgia Milestones testing that will take place in the Spring, has been posted to GCPS Website. The GMAS will be given to students in grades 3rd-5th from 04/24/23 to 05/05/23. Parent Flyers have been posted and can also be found below.
Introducing Mrs. Jacqi Rodriguez
Mrs. Rodriguez will be joining our Parsons' staff on February 1, 2023 as our new PE teacher. Although we are super sad Mrs. Ford is leaving us to retire to her home state, we know that Mrs. Rodriguez will bring engaging physical lessons and activities to our students. We knew she was the one when she responded, "I LOVE FIELD DAY!"

Does your child need help with a subject at school?
In partnership with the Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL), GCPS provides Tutor.com as an online tutoring resource for students. The expert tutors at Tutor.com can help your student work through a tough homework problem, improve writing skills, study for a test, review a difficult concept, and so much more! Live tutoring support is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, students can receive “drop-off support,” 24-7, by uploading a document for tutor feedback that will be reviewed and returned at a later time. To learn more about how to access this resource and what is offered, click here.

Parsons PTA
Save the Date for the following amazing events coming up at Parsons!
March 3: Parsons School Dance "Hello Spring" 6-8pm at Peachtree Ridge High School.
Please join us for music, dancing, food, and many other activities! Details on ticket pricing and purchasing will be shared soon.
March 10: Movie Under the Stars (rescheduled from October due to inclement weather) and International Parade/Food Trucks 5:30-9pm.
As we have done in past years, we will aim to be on the front lawn. However, in case of cold or inclement weather, the event will be relocated to the gym. Along with Movie Night, we will be having our International Parade on the same day prior to the movie! We will have several food truck options (of course, you can still opt to BYOD bring your own dinner) to enjoy before the movie, and we will have a parade of countries to represent the amazing diversity we have at Parsons! If you would like to help with the planning or are interested in being a lead for a particular country, please email parsonsespta@gmail.com. Tickets for Movie Night are available on MemberHub.
Thank you to all the 2nd grade parents that sent in goodies for Parsons staff today. It was so appreciated by all!
If you have any questions about the PTA or volunteer opportunities to help our school community, please email parsonsespta@gmail.com.
