Congratulations to the Parkview Math Bowl team! The competition was held on February 22nd and we placed FIRST among the Valparaiso schools and FIFTH in the State of Indiana! We are so proud of our team!

Parkview 5th grade students will be participating in Valpo's first ever CANstruction Event. They will be building a structure using unopened food cans. We will need more that 1,000 cans. All cans will be donated to families in need after the event. See the flyer below for more information.

Kindergarten Round-Up Information

Kindergarten Round-Up will be on Thursday, April 12 at 9:15 -10:30 AM or 1:15-2:30 PM (you just need to pick one of the times to come!). If you have a kindergarten student or know of someone who does, please complete the survey on the VCS website (under the Kindergarten Round-Up tab) to pre-register the child. The child must be 5 on or before August 1, 2018.

Kindergarten Round-Up will begin with a group meeting during which time you will hear from Mrs. Wodetzki (principal), Mrs. Sunday (nurse), Mrs. Clifford (secretary) and Parkview Kindergarten Teachers. Please bring your child that will be entering Kindergarten. An assessment will be available to identify readiness skills.

You will also want to bring:

· A copy of your child’s birth certificate

· Current immunization records.

· Proof of residency—4 Forms With Current Address (Drivers License, Mortgage/Lease agreement, 2 mailed bills (ie utility bill, water, cable bill etc) -Complete list is available on the website.

We Got The Beat - Music Performance

This year the Parkview Music program will be held on two dates. The first program will be on Thursday, March 15 featuring 4th and 5th grade and the Parkview Choir. The program will begin at 6:30 PM at Benjamin Franklin Middle School. Grades 1-3 will perform on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Benjamin Franklin Middle School.



Our last FNL fundraiser will be on Thursday, March 22nd from 3:30 - 5:00 for all students. More information on this to come home and posted on Dojo in the next few weeks.

Welcome New Families

We are very excited to be welcoming new families to Parkview during the 2018-2019 school year. Adjustments to attendance boundaries will bring approximately 50 new families to Parkview. Please join us as we begin our celebrations with an "Open House" on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 5 pm. The evening will provide information for our new families, a school tour, a DLI presentation and conclude with the regular PTA meeting. Help us share the news. All families are welcome.

College Scholarship Awarded

Parkview first grader, Savannah Bennett was the recipient of $100 scholarship into her College Choice 529 account. Promise Porter County selected 7 winners throughout Porter County to receive the award. Promise Porter County is excited to bring HOPE for a college education to first graders this fall by giving them their own $25 college savings account. Here is Savannah and her first grade teachers, Mrs. Donley and Ms. Mota.

Robotics team finishes strong.

Parkview elementary 4th and 5th grade students formed the first robotics team (“RoboVikes”) this fall. Staff leaders Kristin Nguyen and Jennifer Shelton, guided the children as they learned teamwork and strategies. Parkview finished with a strong 2nd place in the first scrimmage earlier in the year, and then took 2nd place in Driver’s Skills and an overall 14th place out of 27 schools in the February competition. The RoboVikes finished 3rd in the VCS district.
