Matt Lauer and a team from the Today Show were there for a special presentation!

Principal Gencarelli was presented with a gift of a new playground from Home Depot and the opportunity to be on the Today Show Next Wednesday morning. We can't wait to see our own local celebrity and the staff and students at Hope Valley School. Congrats to Mr. G !!!

From Mr. Gencarelli's Weekly Update today:

What an incredible day Monday! Obviously I knew that the Today Show was coming to Hope Valley School but no one gave me the inside information. The NBC producer lied to me and told me it was going to be a follow up from the Red Nose Bike Tour. Apparently, a few staff members and even my wife were in on this surprise. I don't like surprises but so glad I was kept unaware of things. I was totally shocked. I was in even more disbelief when I found out that I was going to be featured in a Father’s Day story on the Today Show. It will show me as a father figure here at school and at home. I was completely taken back and so appreciated that they thought of me to be showcased nationally (one of 4 fathers in the country). There are so many Hope Valley father's out there that deserve this honor as well. It certainly is a humbling experience. Along with that surprise, Home Depot will be building us a new playground for our school community. What a fabulous gesture from Home Depot. Lastly, I will also get to fulfill a life-long dream as I always wanted to be a meteorologist as a young child. I am going to get to do a live Weather Forecast alongside Al Roker next Wednesday, June 17. The entire piece will air on the Today Show (NBC) Wednesday, June 17 sometime between 8:00AM and 9:00AM. The clip will be about 5 minutes but it will 5 minutes of my life I will never forget. If they can pinpoint an exact time I will let you know.

Below is the Westerly Sun article regarding the amazing day at Hope Valley School on Monday.

The final stretch for 2014-2015

We have six days remaining until the end of the year. Please help to keep your child in their routines, such as getting to bed early and completing required homework. We know that this becomes challenging as we end the year. This final stretch is very important for our students as we teach remaining content and prepare them for their next academic year.

Lunch Balances and Sunny Butter Policy

If your child owes more than $5.00 on their lunch account, they will only be able to select Sunny Butter Sandwich, sides and milk for lunch.

Please help us to avoid tears in the lunch line. If you have questions about your child's account, please contact Aramark or review your child's online account. Please contact me if you need financial assistance, such as a payment plan.

Lost and Found Items

Please check the lost and found shelves that are located outside of the Cafeteria.

We donate all remaining clothing to a local charity at the end of June.

Please call us about Kindergarten Registration.

Items needed for registration:

Locator Card - Proof of residency from the Town Clerk's Office

Birth Certificate - A copy is fine

Record of Immunizations and physical examination

To sign up for a FREE Child Outreaching Screening call 364-1100

The screenings provide information regarding your child's development in the areas of speech, vision, hearing and movement.

Call us if you have any questions of if you need to register: 364-7716

Summer Reading and Math

We are making preparations to try to encourage all of our students to complete some summer reading and math. It is important for students to practice their skills when school is not in session. What's great about reading, is that you can do it practically anywhere, as evident by the photo here of some of our book buddies (older students who read to younger students each week)
