Welcome Back Dance a Success

Congratulations to Student Council and Mr. Fash for organizing a successful Welcome Back Dance on September 27. The Pre-Halloween theme was in full swing as students danced the night away in their creative costumes.

Clubs

Students signed up for clubs this week. If a student missed their designated sign-up day, they can sign up for a club during lunch on October 7. Clubs begin on Friday, October 11 and will occur every Friday during Resource until November 8.

Student Drop-off and Pick-up Traffic Pattern

For the safety of our students, staff, and parents, please click here and review the expected traffic patterns when dropping off or picking up your child. Also, if your child goes to C.B. West after school, please reiterate to them that they must cross West State Street at one of the two designated crosswalks.

Safety Drills

During September, Lenape successfully conducted Lockdown, Severe Weather, Evacuation, and Fire Drills. All drills were announced and students did an outstanding job listening to staff and following directions. Our building Safety Committee will continue to review and implement necessary procedures to ensure we continue to provide a safe learning environment.

Magazine Drive

Thank you to our volunteers who helped make this year’s Magazine Drive a success. Look for details in upcoming weeks about the Limo Lunch and Magazine Drive Party for students who qualified.

Snow Sports Club

The Lenape Snow Sports Club is a popular, supervised, after-school activity that takes six trips to Blue Mountain Ski Area on Friday nights through the winter. The club is open to Lenape Middle School students of all grade levels. Skiers and boarders from beginners to experts are welcome. This year the trips dates are:

Friday, January 3

Friday, January 10

Friday, January 31

Friday, February 7

Friday, February 21

Friday, February 28

Cost of the program ranges from $230 to $295 for all six days.

We have also scheduled a separate weekend day trip to Elk Mountain on Sunday, Feb. 2. The cost of the Elk Mountain trip is $65 to $100.

Parents (guardians) and students must attend one of the mandatory meetings held in the Lenape auditorium: Thursday, Oct. 3, 7:15 to 8:15 P.M. and Thursday, Oct. 10, 7:45 to 8:45 P.M. You must attend one of the meetings to register and participate with the snow sports club each year. Registrations and payments will be accepted at the conclusion of each meeting and in school (room 340) beginning Oct. 11. The deadline for registration is Friday, Oct. 25 or when all available seats are full.

Dental Exam Reminder to 7th Grade Parents

The State of Pennsylvania mandates that all students in grade seven provide a completed report of dental examination by their dentist. The form was sent home last spring. The completed report is to be returned to the Health Room on or before October 15th.

If you have misplaced the form, it is available on the internet at www.cbsd.org through parent resources and by double clicking on Medical Forms.

Free & Reduced Lunch Program

Application information for the free and reduced lunch program was sent home with your student on the first day of school. Each year there is a roll over grace period allowing new applications to be reviewed and processed. Families must reapply every year and those who have not reapplied will be removed from the program, effective October 15, 2013. If you are one of those families participating in this program it is imperative that you reapply as soon as possible. You can access the application online at http://cbsd.schoollunchapp.com. Families can also apply online for free or reduced school meals and other benefits at www.compass.state.pa.us. If you do not have access to applying online you may contact your child’s school or the District Food Services office at 267-893-5758 for a paper application.
