Week 17 News
12/14/15-12/18/15
Students are learning about different tastes in Mandarin. It was time to learn about the taste "bitter." What better way than to taste bitter melon? I love doing this every year. Their reaction is always priceless. :D
Please visit our class site for this week's content.
Here we are the last week before the break! Please read below for reminders on what is happening this week as we wrap up the end of 2015!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
1. 12/14 (THIS MONDAY!) Book Exchange
Please have our child bring in a gift-wrapped new or "gently used" book (no student names, please!), so every student can pick a special book to take home as a gift this holiday season! Please do not feel compelled to participate. If, for any reason, you are unable to share a book, please contact myself or our room parents and we can supply extra books for the exchange. I don't want any child to feel left out!

5. Khan Academy (OPTIONAL)
As a supplemental resource, I will be assigning Math work from khanacademy.org. This is a wonderful resource for students who would like more practice with the concepts taught at school or would like more challenging Math work.
The website adapts the questions based on each child's level. The more questions students answer correctly, the harder the problems will get. The program will also make problems easier if students are struggling with correctly answering the problems.
Please see below on how to sign up. This information will also be posted on our class site under "Parent Resources".
- Sign up at khanacademy.org (or log in with their existing accounts)
- Visit khanacademy.org/coaches
- There, in the "Add a coach" field, enter the class code XEEF4D
Better Chinese Online Reading
Please have your child work on Chinese reading as part of their daily homework! Once you log-in you will see the information under "Assignment Messages".
This is a resource the school has purchased to assist parents in supporting Mandarin learning at home. Please utilize this special resource! CLICK HERE
**I have learned that the Better Chinese website is accessible on iPads by using "Puffin Web Browser." It's a free app so you don't have to pay for the premium version!**
