"The Center opened on Earth Day in April 2000. In addition to a salt marsh, its grounds include upland meadows, waterways, and tidal flats. The open waters of Gerritsen Creek are an important refuge for ducks, geese and other waterfowl. This wetland ecosystem can be viewed from nearly 5 miles of shoreline."
Recycle
We are in the process of organizing a system to reduce our waste at Compass!
- There will be four labeled containers at each table for milk, food, trash and recyclables
- Milk will be poured down the drain
- Food waste and recyclables will be taken away by the city
We need 16 containers for each classroom and we have four classrooms. To make this possible we would so appreciate donations of leftover containers, baskets, small buckets and bins.
Thank you!
Grow
Please bring in any soda bottles you may have at home so we can get this project started!

This week we are building and collaging maps of our classroom.
Ask your child about the maps they are creating.
