Winter Park High School Band Notes

- The Winter Park Bands will be hosting their 2nd annual Mattress Sale Fundraiser this coming Saturday, September 29 in the East Cafeteria! This is a great way for students to earn credit into their Band account, and there is a Facebook event page found at https://www.facebook.com/events/229907844517176/. Please share this event on your own Facebook page, and encourage others that you know (even if they are not part of the WP Band Program) to share as well!

- You are welcome to sign-up for more than one shift, however, it is expected that you will follow through with any time-slots that you sign-up for, so check your calendar carefully.
- Each student/parent who signs-up for a slot will receive a share of the Mattress Sale Fundraiser profits. Two time-slots would earn two shares, etc.
- Sign-up is on a first come/first serve basis!
HOME FOOTBALL GAME
This week's home football game is also "Middle School Band Night," and we will be welcoming 7th and 8th grade students from Audubon K-8, Glenridge MS and Maitland MS!
CONCERT ATTIRE ORDERING
The concert band attire side of MyBandStuff.com is up and ready to receive orders! The ordering instructions can be found on our Band website at http://www.winterparkhsband.com/forms.html, and students who were measured for a tuxedo will be receiving "tuxedo shirt measurement" sheets during rehearsal on Monday. Please note the deadline of Friday, September 28.
HOMECOMING PARADE & ROAR
On Wednesday, October 3, the Marching Band will be performing at the Homecoming "pep rally" - the Roar. This follows the Homecoming parade and is held in Winter Park's "Central Park" area. Because the Marching Band will be performing directly before the "rally" in the parade, and then throughout the "pep rally" itself, there will not be time for them to eat any of the BBQ offered there. However, you are welcome to order a BBQ meal to take home for them to enjoy after we return back to the school. The itinerary can be found on the Band website.
THURSDAY MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL - OCTOBER 4
Just a reminder that, due to the Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, October 3, we have a make-up Marching Band rehearsal on Thursday, October 4 from 2:45 PM - 5:00 PM. This is not a new change, but we wanted to make sure that it was on everyone's calendars!
SOLO & ENSEMBLE REGISTRATION
Registration for Solo & Ensemble MPA is now up and available through the Band website. It is never too early to begin forming ensembles and selecting music for S&E MPA. Also, if you are going to prepare a solo for S&E MPA, be sure to lock-down your accompanist immediately! The deadline for S&E MPA registration is Friday, November 9 at 2:30 PM. Also, if you want the Band Program to purchase music for your event, those orders are due no later than Monday, December 3 at 2:30 PM.
FALL ORCHESTRA CONCERT - OCTOBER 29
Due to the double-booking the Auditorium on top of the Fall Orchestra Concert, originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, it has now been moved to Monday, October 29 at 7:00 PM.
Please make sure that we are paying Band Fees in a timely manner! We currently have over $10,000 in outstanding Band fees owed by many of our students. If you have financial constraints that are preventing you from making your Band fee schedule, please contact me directly so that we can make arrangements and/or a payment plan. In addition to this, make sure that you are actively participating in our fundraisers. These are specifically created to alleviate our fees, but you need to take advantage of them! FAIR SHARE #3
Our third Band Fair Share payment is due next Wednesday, October 3. This is the final Fair Share payment (for winds & percussion) until March 2019. Always try to make Fair Share payments through SchoolPay.com.
SCHOOL INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE PAYMENT #1
For those students using a school-owned instrument in the First Semester, this $60 fee is also due next Wednesday, October 3.
