Anyone do a double take and think this was Bethany?! LOL!
Noise cancelling headphones
I have only worn a pair of noise cancelling headphones once, at a monster truck event. I totally appreciated the lower volume in that craziness, but most of all I liked the opportunity to focus on just what I wanted to hear. In a world of auditory bombardment (borrowing and stretching some SLP language there), I'm hoping today to offer a way for us to focus and prepare for an important discussion as a school staff on April 18th.
Over the course of the year, you've likely seen/heard/been told about news articles, podcasts, Facebook posts, public expression at board meetings, lobbyists working to pass legislation, local interviews, and stress over the "Reading War" -- all information that have been filling the airwaves. As a school, we want to put on our noise cancelling headphones and have the chance to pay attention to the Senate Bill 9 requirements and the current research, or science of reading, to prepare for a discussion about our next steps as a school when it comes to literacy instruction.
Thank you, Mallory, for curating this playlist so that everyone can explore and take time to read through resources related to our biggest mission as an elementary school - teaching children to read. Please carve out time over the next few weeks to review these resources and prepare for our upcoming "fireside chat."
Feedback for Paraprofessionals
If you supervise, work alongside or observe ECS and Classroom Aides, this message is for you!
Each spring we have the opportunity to provide formal feedback to our instructional support staff. As a school, we continue to include all of our stakeholders in garnering this feedback.
Please complete this form by April 14th, thank you!
