Student Check-Ins

Students: Just because we aren't together at FMS doesn't mean we aren't still here for you when you need us. This is a scary and difficult time, and we want to know how you are doing. You can fill out the form that Mrs. Houf has sent out or the one Mrs. Burfield and Mrs. Horstmeier have sent out with our resources that is also linked here as well, FMS Student Check In.

What was sent home by FMS Counseling

Mrs. Burfield and Mrs. Horstmeier sent home a packet with students that were handed out by their 8th hour teacher. It was a 3 page packet on Responsibility, Perseverance, Acceptance and Kindness along with a social emotional bingo that students can do by themselves. We have also linked some great resources on the digital pages that can be found on the FPS Website under FMS Explo, FMS Student Support Resources. We miss our students and cant' wait to see them. Starting Monday, Mrs Burfield and Mrs. Horstmeier will be available from 2 to 3 p.m. each day, although they check their email regularly throughout the day if you need them.

FMS Counseling Department: Mrs. Burfield, Mrs. Horstmeier and Ms. Jo

Needing to see the school counselor?

Students needing to access the counselor's office can submit a form from their chrome books by clicking on the apps button. This form comes only to the counselor's. 6th graders will learn how to use this app on Tuesday, August 27th when counselors meet with them through their ELA classrooms. You can also ask your teacher for help. If you can't locate the form you can also shoot your school counselor an email. Obviously if there is an emergency, students will be sent to the Counselors Office immediately. This is just a great way to help students stay in the classroom for instruction time .

Here are a few ways you can reach out to us in the FMS Counseling Office:

Mrs. Horstmeier works with students with a last name starting with an A-J and can be reached at and Mrs. Burfield works with students with a last name starting with a K-Z and can be reached at

Ms. Jo is the Counseling Office secretary and can be reached at

Counseling Office phone number is 573-590-8208

Journey to Success!

The next few weeks will be challenging but we are offering you moments of fitness and fun with family and friends. Each day you will be offered a fitness challenge. It’s okay if it takes you longer than a day to complete it.

***Expectations for Digital PE Assignments:***

1. You have choices but ALWAYS get parent permission before doing the suggested activities.
2. NONE of these activities or assignments are required but we do need to hear back from students at least once each week.
3. Completing multiple assignments each week will earn you resiliency points and the possibility of leveling up if you are below proficient in some standards.
4. You may not have all the materials, equipment or skill necessary for all activities but you are welcome to make modifications as needed.
5. If you have any questions or need help please email a PE teacher.

We talked a little about this in class when we last saw you guys. We now have an account! And it's free! There is a TON of music to play with. You can find some of our band tunes, (8th grade - "Voyage to the Edge of the World" is there!), good exercises to stay up with your instrument, and fun music to play.

  1. The class is called Fulton Music

  3. ALL music on the site is free until June 30

  4. Contact Ms. Neudecker if you have trouble enrolling!

Once you get enrolled, Mr. Thomas or I (Ms. Neudecker) have to "accept" you. That should happen within 24 hours! Don't hesitate to send me an email, just as a reminder!

Keep an eye out for some extra resources for you all to utilize to make practicing exciting! Mr. Thomas will be sending info to student emails starting next week for everyone to use!

News from "Outside" the Art Room!

Students, and Parents,

Last week I sent out emails to all students with their code to our new google classroom. I hope my second email cleared up the confusion that this was meant only for Art students that have me all year and 3rd term only...

As I said last week, I have been working very hard to learn how to do this, and I am sure it is not without hiccups, as technology is not my forte, but I am embracing it, and I too am learning, and trying new things.

We had spring break during this shut down, and we are actually only in week 2, and it feels more like a month, or longer. I am trying to keep my spirits up, and hearing from students has helped a bunch! So parents encourage and support your kiddos to stay connected with their teachers...we really do miss them!

I have added week 2&3 to google classroom, as well as a form for students to fill out. This form is titled “How are you?”

I personally miss having conversations with your kids, and seeing their smiles. I miss hearing their laughs, and having conversations with them as well as working with them one on one, so, I thought each week I would throw out a new topic to get them writing a little something about what is going on on their worlds, and check up on them. They can share pics with me, or pics of what they are working on. Or they can always email me directly if they need anything.

Keep sending your images of what you are working on! I have been getting some awesome work from a lot of you all!

I will be adding the fourth week and beyond soon. Students can work at their own pace, and they can try any, or all of the activities I have provided. Of course they can go above and beyond, and use these ideas to create their own artistic spin on these lessons as well. These are lessons that are mostly left up to interpretation as I know materials as well as resources may be limited, but I hope this is where students can provide ingenuity, and flexibility to come up with their own ways of creative problem solving. The main goal is to provide them with enriching ideas to engage with, and perhaps give them a creative outlet during these new times we are in. I feel getting up and getting creative is a great therapeutic way not only to occupy time, but also allows our minds to be focused on creativity and a sense of pride in the creating process.

Remember to breathe, don’t get overwhelmed with stuff and feel like you have to do it all at once... with Art it could be your break from your other content areas.

Let me know if you need anything!

Please email me if you have any questions, or students please email me photos of your creations as well as your processes. Keep connecting!!!’ I love to hear from you all!

Thanks so much! Be safe, and be well!

Mrs. Lairmore

I sure miss seeing you all at school! I hope you're doing well while we're on this long break from school. I'd love to hear from you. What are you all up to? What are you reading? I'd love to have you send me a book review of any books you've read while on this break. If you want to email it to me, make sure it's a video, 2 minutes or less, and you don't have to show your face if you don't want to. I will share it on our FMS Facebook page and the Library Instagram page. If you do not want me to share it on social media please say that in your email.

If you are needing more books to read, or activities to do, please check out these sites below:
