These six young people are a remarkable group who represent six different families. They are talented and hard-working and headed to exciting futures after they graduate in early June.
I want to remind you, however, that these six young women and men are who they are because of you. Every time we baptize anyone, we as a family of faith commit to walk with that infant, child, teen or adult on his or her journey of faith. And that’s what you have been doing with these young people: teaching them in Sunday School, singing VBS songs with them, going camping with them, studying the Bible with them, driving them to Austin, Louisiana, South Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, riding with them on roller coasters at Six Flags, drifting in the wave pool at Hawaiian Falls, listening to them, celebrating with them, crying with them, teaching them to build porches or lay linoleum or hang sheet rock, dancing with them, praying for them. As their pastor and your pastor, I thank you for that. You’ve made a difference in their lives and in our world.
In addition to hearing the Word proclaimed by Emily Tepera this Sunday, a Family Choir will offer the Word through music and a newly formed youth ensemble will share the gift of music. It will be a great day of worship and celebration!
I’m praying for you and for them. I hope you’re praying as well.
Glory to God!
Pastor Mary Beth

Remembering Those Who Served
Yellow ribbons will be available in the narthex on Sunday for those who would like to wear one in memory of a loved one or friend who served in the military. We honor all those who have died serving the United States military.
Life-Giving Moments: Rockbrook Elementary
Dear members of VRUMC, Thank you so much for the wonderful Italian lunch and yummy desserts you provided for us. I want to thank you also for making us feel valued and appreciated in the blessed work we all do here at Rockbrook. Can't imagine doing this without your loving support! Much love and appreciation, Becky Pilgrim
A big thanks to everyone who helped build life-giving relationships with Rockbrook Elementary students and staff. This past year we recorded more than 300 hours of in-school assistance from our wonderful volunters. As many of 15 volunteers helped with student mentoring, student reading, cafeteria duty, staff appreciation gifts/cards, treats, prayers, and love. We will kick off another school year with our Back to School Blessing on Sunday, August 21, joined by Rockbrook administration and staff. Watch for more information in early August on how you can take part next school year!
Kids Eat Free Signups
Sign up in the narthex or online to participate in this summer’s Kids Eat Free program, which will run from June 6-August 19 at Chapel Hill Apartments. With CCA assistance, Vista Ridge UMC will deliver lunches and provide children’s activities on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The program helps feed children who may not have lunch during the summer.
Donations for Vacation Bible School Supplies
Supplies are needed to help make this year’s Vacation Bible School (June 13-17) a success. Select an item to purchase from the surfboard in the narthex, or consider a cash/check donation to support the program. To register for VBS, complete the form in the narthex or online at www.vrumc.org. Space is filling quickly. Register today!
Women’s Fellowship Social
Join the women of the church for a fellowship social from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Karen Packer’s house for flowers and ice cream. Bring an ice cream topping, a dozen real flowers and a vase to build a bouquet to take home and enjoy. This is a fun opportunity to socialize and get to know other women in the church.
