Community Service at GHS

Last March, Grafton High School launched a Volunteer/Community Service program for students to learn about volunteer opportunities in our greater community. Due to the pandemic, we halted the program but now we are re-launching it! Grafton High School does not have a community service requirement, but students are encouraged to participate. Potential Benefits of volunteering include:

  • Develops an increased sense of social responsibility – a global view of society and a heart for giving back and helping others.
  • Builds relationships and social connections with peers and adults in the community.
  • Helps students find their passions and interests that may lead to a career choice they may have not considered.

All students will have access to volunteer opportunities through the Community Service course located on the Canvas dashboard. Information that will be provided for each event includes dates, times, tasks and a contact person. Students will be responsible for signing up for the events, contacting the organizer and following their health and safety protocols.

Students can submit volunteer hours through Canvas by completing a Community Service Hours Submission Form. Submitted hours will be entered into Skyward by GHS throughout the year. Students can also submit hours from volunteer opportunities that are not posted by GHS.

Mrs. Gwen Feldbruegge (Welcome Desk Assistant) will be overseeing the program and can be reached at ghs-service@grafton.k12.wi.us or 262-376-5508. If you belong to or know of an area organization that is in need of volunteers, please contact Mrs. Feldbruegge. If you have any other questions, please contact your school counselor.

Summer Jobs

Area businesses are sending "help wanted" information to the GHS Counseling Office. The jobs are posted on the Black Hawk Communications message board between the counseling office and the cafeteria.

Summer Learning/Pre-College Opportunities

There are many opportunities for summer career and pre-college programs found on the GHS Counseling Website. Some deadlines are fast approaching!

Grad Grams-Scholarships for GHS Seniors

Grad Grams are available for purchase for 2021 graduating seniors at all the Grafton schools as well as Ace Hardware. Grad grams are cards sent to congratulate a current Grafton High School Graduate. All grams created for a student are then compiled into a memory book for the graduate, to be handed out at the graduation ceremony. All proceeds for the Grad Grams go to the Grafton Community Scholarship Fund, which provides local scholarships to graduating seniors.
