Tech Time

New tools plus time to share

I'm looking forward to our November Tech Time. This week I'll introduce three new web tools, Google Sheets, LucidPress and GoNoodle. I'll provide a quick overview and demo of each. In the second half of our session we will have free time to work on existing projects, create a new one, share ideas with colleagues and get comfortable with the new resources.

Bring your device if you have one!

Google Sheets

Sheets are the Google spreadsheet tool. Useful for creating lists that you can manipulate, collecting and sorting data, and creating charts and graphs.

Like all the other Google tools you know, the toolbars, editing functions, and collaboration features are the same.

We have a school-wide education account to the online publishing tool LucidPress. LucidPress allows you to create ebooks, digital magazines, brochures and flyers that you can share digitally or print. One of its best features is that is integrates with Google Drive, allowing students to log in with their Google accounts, import text from Drive and collaborate. Sharing is simple because it is cloud based.

Here is an example of an ebook created by Greg Stone.

GoNoodle allows you to incorporate quick brain breaks and interactive movement into your school day. Super fun and free! The site provides videos and animations that energize or calm students- from Zumba Jr. to guided meditation. It would also be great for indoor recess or PE.

Here's an overview.
