Warwick Academy Primary Library
Fall Term 2016
Welcome to your Library!
Over the past few weeks, I had the immense pleasure to welcome new and past students to the Library for our induction sessions. Some classes have already checked Library books out to take home. For more information about Library loans and how to use our Library Catalogue to keep track of your child's Library books, please visit our Primary Library page on FROG. The student ID numbers used to access the catalogue as well as our ebook collection were emailed to you recently.
In this first newsletter, you will also find some information about our upcoming "Book Week" which will be inspired, this year, by Roald Dahl's Centennial celebrations and about our Funds4Books online fundraiser which offers parents an opportunity to acknowledge their child's birthday while contributing to our Library holdings.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any question about the Library.
Kind regards,
Françoise Wolffe
Book Week 2016
This year, the world is marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl and Warwick Academy Primary will focus on this prolific children's book author during its annual Book Week event from November 7th to November 10th, 2016 . On this occasion, literacy activities around Roald Dahl's favourite titles will be held in the Library and the classroom. Stay tuned for further details closer to the event.
Funds4Books Campaign
WA Birthday Book Scheme offers parents the opportunity to contribute to the renewal of our Library collection while celebrating their child's birthday in a meaningful way. For every $20 donated, we can purchase a new book that your child and the rest of Primary can enjoy (books are selected based on your child's interest and her/his Library loan history). Donations are acknowledged by a special birthday bookplate and a presentation during our Special Birthday Book Assemblies, once a term. For more information, please visit https://funds4books.com/ and enter our school code: d02a.
Bilingual Children's Book
Congratulations to Silvia Darling, a Warwick Academy parent, who recently co-authored "Ben and Sam on the farm", a bilingual storybook to introduce the Spanish language to children. The publication can be purchased online at Amazon or at the Bookmart where a book signing/story telling event is scheduled on Saturday, September 24th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
