A hopeful outlook!
Where The Wild Things Are Parade
Calling all Wild Things for our Annual Wild Things RUMPUS!!
Inside all of us is hope, fear, adventure. Inside all of us is a Wild Thing.
Again this is optional and only applies to students in the preschool program. (Does not apply to The Free VPK program.)
This is an annual tradition for our school and the students love creating homemade costumes, crowns, and wands.
Tips for making DIY Wild Things costumes:
Costumes should be safe and free of any type of mask.
Cool for the weather. White t-shirt and white shorts are affordable and cool. Upcycle an old white pair of shorts, skirt, old pajama's, or t-shirt.
Use fabric markers to decorate costume.
Browse Pinterest for DIY Wild Things Costumes.
Keep age appropriate and simple.
Make it a family project on the weekend.
Let's make mischief of one kind or another. Let the wild rumpus begin!!
Don't Forget! Friendly Reminder
The teaching team members will be in Tampa for Annual state training.
Learning Labs this Week!

This week students continued following artist Pablo Picasso creating their second masterpiece inspired by Mr. Picasso. We were inspired to make some lemongrass tea. First we clipped fresh lemongrass from eco-village, washed it, cut it into small pieces and let the lemongrass steep in our tea. After a couple of hours we strained out the lemongrass and Presto! Delicious organic, homemade lemongrass tea. It was a favorite with everyone enjoying! In drama some students enjoyed the story Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar acting out and playing the game. We also worked on active listening skills by playing games that required students to list to both a bell and rhythm sticks for specific body movement cues. We found that more practice is needed with active listening. Our friends the 5 Little Monkeys also made an appearance in Drama. It seems that they are always jumping on the bed! Students are beginning to understand that Peace begins with each and every one of us. Stop by the rock room and read the peace chart that is on display as well as view the wooden piece signs created by our peacemakers!

Spreading Joy This October
Thank you to all of those that participated in our September campaign to spread awareness about Childhood Cancers. We raised $195 to donate to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital!
This month we are continuing to help others. For those of you who participate in Trick or Treating we will have boxes for Unicef. Pennies for Children!
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began in 1950 as a way to help kids who need more than candy. Since then, children all over America have gone door-to-door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!" They have raised more than $175 million for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF since 1950
We have also been invited to Trick or Treat by Alice's mommy Shelley at Jacaranda Trace on Friday, October 30th at 5:30pm.

If you have ever had a loved one in a nursing home, assisted living facility or hospital for an extended period you know how much seeing children means to them. And they will surely light up at the sight of the costumes. Please consider putting this on your list as you will put a smile on the face of many.
