Beginning of the Fourth Marking Period

As April turns to May it is clear that this school year is rapidly coming to a close. With fourth marking period in full swing, it is important for our students to continue to work hard and finish the school year on strong academic footing. This becomes even harder now with the distractions of nice weather and outdoor activities that are extended with the longer days. Clearly how one begins an endeavor is critically important, but how one finishes ultimately determines success or failure. Let us all commit to finishing the school year on a high note.

Also, please review our updated 2015-2016 School Calendar, which the Board of Education approved at its last meeting. Due to only using two of three snow days this past winter, we have moved the last day of school for students from Friday, June 24th to Thursday, June 23rd. This will affect the 8th grade promotion ceremony and high school graduation dates. The last day for staff will be Friday, June 24, 2016.

Mrs. Sondra Lougee is Monmouth County Teacher of the Year!

Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Sondra Lougee for being selected as the 2016-2017 Monmouth County Teacher of the Year!

The Governor’s Educator of the Year Program is designed to highlight educational innovation, student achievement, the rewards of teaching, and important services outside the classroom environment that lead to student success.

Mrs. Lougee was selected from among dozens of other outstanding educators. When selecting a county teacher of the year, panelists were asked to select a teacher who stands out as an extraordinary and inspiring teacher who ensures that his/her students are performing and improving at the highest level, and who represents the true essence of a teacher leader, who not only gives back to their students, but to their school, district, and beyond.

As Monmouth County Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Lougee will be speaking at various events and will be involved in many county and state-level activities, and will be representing Monmouth County in the State Teacher of the Year Program.

I know that Mrs. Lougee will make us proud as she represents our county and our district as she fulfills her duties as Monmouth County Teacher of the Year!
