Mission Statement

We, the SHIELDS CAPtains, will participate in advanced learning, continuously grow, and move on to the next grade level, by being responsible, doing our best, working together, and learning from our mistakes.

What's Happening??

  • 11/20 > Report Cards Go Home
  • 11/25-11/29 > Thanksgiving Break!

Special shoutout to the Crottty Family who sponsored our classroom this year!!!

Shields PTO Partners are kind enough to donate funds that can be used for additional supplies in the classroom. We used our money to purchase books, lesson resources, art supplies, and other materials! Thank you!!

Teacher Report Card

Every year I like to send out a survey at the end of the first marking period to see how the year is going from the family side of things. This year I added some questions to gather information on your perception of CAP as well. Please complete the survey below when you get a minute! I appreciate your honesty so I can continuously improve in my profession. This survey is anonymous. If you prefer a paper copy let me know and I'll send one home. If you have any questions, just ask!

Schoology seems to be a hit with the students as they enjoy completing assignments online. They keep asking what else we can do with it! This is a new program to me so I'm learning right along with them. I've completed some professional development and will continue to do so throughout the year so I can then train others in our building. I am hoping to use the tool not only as an instructional tool, but also as a collaborative tool between the students.

As students submit work online, I am able to grade assignments using the program as well. We have spent time in school reviewing how to look at grades, check out the rubrics, see comments I made, revise and resubmit work and completing mini lessons on the program. I just wanted to remind you to ask your child about any work they may have completed on Schoology so you can review it with them there. You can then see the rubrics used to grade, read my comments, and see their marking period and over all grade. Just remember that not ALL assignment are submitted on Schoology so the average may not be completely accurate. I will be sending home multiple progress reports this marking period so you can see an up to date report.

I am looking into a way to have parents be able to access Schoology as well and will pass on that information when I get it!

Snowman Presents

We will be creating these snowman night lights for the residents at Cadbury at Lewes the first week of December. Mrs. Boladas will be delivering them to the residents for us. I have already purchased the tea lights and the hats, but could use some help gathering other items.

We will need:

  • black sharpies
  • small wiggle eyes that are self-adhesive
  • thin red ribbon
  • 30 small holiday bags (I'm thinking the cookie bags would work well)

If you can donate the items please let me know!

Volunteers are needed so please click on the link below to see if there is a time that would work for you!

Classroom Needs

We are set up for now! I'll update this part of the newsletter as items are needed!
