Important COVID-19 Updates
On Thursday, February 24, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) announced they have moved up the date they will lift the statewide masking rule for indoor public spaces and schools from March 31 to March 19. You can find the full announcement here.
With the pending lift of the indoor mask rule, OHA and the Oregon Department of Education are returning decision-making relative to COVID-19 guidance to school districts. The district sent out a message and survey on Friday, February 18, asking for feedback from our families, staff, and students. The survey will be open through noon on Friday, March 4. If you have not participated in this survey, please be sure to provide your feedback.
Preliminary results and follow-up information are listed below. Look for a full report on the feedback collected in the March 4 Community Newsletter.
Early results from the TTSD Indoor Mask Survey:
2204 individuals have responded to include:
140 Students
313 Staff
1,751 Parents/Guardians
Common questions provided in early feedback include:
How will schools work with students to respect individual choices regarding masking?
Will staff support my young student to continue to wear their mask?
What information will inform decisions regarding future changes to COVID-19 protocols?
Who will need to quarantine, will schools continue to contact trace, and how will exposures be communicated?
Will schools report the number of positive cases of COVID-19 after March 19?
Will schools continue to offer on-site testing for students/staff who develop symptoms at school?
Will masks be available for students and staff at school?
Will the district continue to host vaccine clinics?
Answers to these questions and others will be provided in the coming weeks and will be represented in the District’s presentation at the March 14 School Board meeting. At that meeting, an updated COVID-19 response plan will detail how the district will move forward upon lifting of the indoor mask rule. All planning of new district guidance will be driven by Washington County data regarding the spread of COVID1-19 in our community and in our schools.
Please Note: Masks are required indoors through Friday, March 18, 2022.

Traffic Safety Alert: New Traffic Signal Installed on Durham Road
The city’s first Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) is being installed as part of the Durham Adaptive Project at SW Durham Road/SW 88th Avenue in front of Tigard High School. This is an upgrade from the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) that is currently there. The PHB has a higher level of driver compliance to stop for pedestrians and the timing can be coordinated with nearby signals to keep traffic moving.
The signal was activated today, February 28.
