Tiger Tale

Principal's Message
I want to share that our Safe Schools Office in conjunction with local law enforcement were in constant communication with our school site this afternoon as they investigated and cleared a potential threat at Del Campo High School. Once the incident at the high school was deemed safe and not a threat we were provided with the all clear to dismiss our students. As a precaution, Sac County Sheriffs did a sweep of the surrounding schools, including Dewey. Our entire Dewey staff stepped up to ensure that students safely dismissed from the site. We recognize that today's events could be frightening for our students, staff and families. Staff will be available to help ease any fears or worries that our students may have. Our number one priority is the safety of our school community. Please contact the office or myself with any questions or concerns you may have.
I can't be remiss and not circle back and acknowledge what a wonderful event Santa's Night was last Friday. It was a fun filled event that brought our whole community together. I'd like to acknowledge and thank Krisi Carter who chaired the Santa's Night Committee and Jennifer Rich who chaired the Kids Only Shoppe committee (and stored all of the donations!). Thank you Krisi, Jennifer and your teams for planning, organizing and executing an amazing night!
I feel very fortunate to be part of such a special community.
Warmest regards,
Sabrina Parsley, Principal

Helping Children Learn - December
Parents and family members often ask how they can support and encourage their student's creativity and love of learning. Whether you have a 7-year-old or a 17-year-old, research shows that students perform better academically and behaviorally if the student knows their parents are involved and have high expectations. To support this effort, each month we will feature a new "Helping Children Learn" newsletter that is full of ideas to support learning at home.
