From the Principal
Hopefully this message finds you well and in good spirits. Another week was completed with valuable instruction, opportunities, and celebrations provided to scholars. Teachers took time to celebrate scholars for academic achievement and effort, and the smiles (even behind the masks) were priceless. We welcomed Mr. Minor to our Library Team, and he is glad to be a part of The Lake Ridge Nation. Our Scholastic Online Book Fair and PTA Read-a-Thon also started and will continue.
Report cards posted in Family Access for viewing. Grace was definitely a word that came to life this 1st Nine Weeks. Be sure that your child is logging in to Schoology daily AND completing the assignments. If you have questions about assignment submissions, contact the respective teacher directly. Reach out to your child's homeroom teacher or me if your child does not have access to a device and/or the Internet.
This week, we look forward to kicking it off by recognizing the 50th day of the school year on Monday, November 16. Scholars and faculty are invited to dress in 1950s attire. As our teachers continue to provide engaging and relevant instruction, we are pleased to see more and more scholars take ownership of their learning and education, and we will persevere as more scholars join in doing so. We hope to capture scholars who did not complete district-required MAP assessments, and Dr. Washington has contacted parents directly via email to schedule virtual sessions; please contact her for questions or concerns.
The district has sent communication, so this is a reminder that scholars attending via Traditional Instruction will only be counted present if they are physically in attendance or have been quarantined by CHISD Health Services. We look forward to engaging with scholars via Traditional Instruction and Online Flex Learning this week as we prepare to head into the Thanksgiving Break.
While we are not accepting walk-ins at this time, you are encouraged to call the campus and/or email us for assistance. As a reminder, if you need support with accessing your Skyward/Family Access account, please email family.access@chisd.net. All families are encouraged to log in to make sure that mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contacts are accurate. If you need assistance and/or have a question about technology, you may email devicesupport@chisd.net, or call the helpline at 469-272-2082.
Be sure to keep the following dates(s) in mind:

Gifted & Talented Nominations
Scholars who scored 80% or higher on district wide MAP testing have been nominated for Gifted & Talented services. All scholars who were nominated for GT must complete a Naglieri 3 assessment on campus to be considered for GT eligibility. Naglieri 3 assessments will be given, December 1st - 4th on campus only. Please look for a sign-up sheet in the coming weeks to schedule your scholar for testing on campus. Nagleri assessments take approximately 30 minutes. This test may not be taken virtually.
If your scholar has not completed MAP assessments in the area of reading and math, your scholar will not be eligible for Gifted & Talented. Please contact Dr. Emily Washington at emily.washington@chisd.net, if your scholar has not completed MAP assessments in the area of reading and math. This assessment may be completed virtually or in-person.
