Let's Learn Together!

Changes for Next Year

Next year, I have been given the opportunity to job share my position with another Library Media Specialist. I will be working until noon every day and then leaving so that I can spend more time with my daughter.

The afternoon classes will be taught by Nicole Boshard. Nicole was the Library Media Specialist at Line Creek Elementary for 9 years. She took this year off from work to stay home with her new baby. She is happy to be returning to Park Hill on a part-time basis next year. Nicole was my mentor when I first came into my position, so I have very high regard for her. She will do an excellent job at Hawthorn.

I am very grateful to Park Hill for giving us both this opportunity to balance our work and family lives. I have many friends in other school districts who are not allowed the opportunity to job share. I realize that I am very lucky to work in a district that understands the needs of working parents.

Summer Reading Programs

The Mid-Continent Public Library will be here on March 25 to explain their summer reading incentive program to our students. In the meantime, you can find out more about it at http://www.mymcpl.org/kids/srp

Barnes and Noble also holds a reading incentive every summer. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/summer-reading/_/N-rs9 Kids can earn a free book!

There are great prizes from both places and setting reading goals can greatly help kids avoid sliding back in their reading ability over the summer.

Happy Summer!

Thank you very much for your support this year and I hope you all have a safe and happy summer! See you in August!
