Spring Break Travel Recommendations
If you plan to travel outside the United States, the CDC offers recommendations for a safe return to the U.S. and school:
- Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel.
- Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
- If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected. (10 days isolation from start of symptoms or test date, whichever occurs first)
- If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
- Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.

4th Grade Track Callout
4th Grade Choir Callout
Are you interested in joining HRE’s 4th grade choir? Our choir rehearsals will initially meet virtually via zoom in March and April followed by two outdoor practices in May. The choir will learn two graduation songs that will be recorded individually and then merged using a program called Choir Creator to compose our end of year virtual choir performance.
Please see the practice schedule below (a paper schedule will be sent home with all participants). The choir rehearsals will meet every Wednesday morning from 8:00-8:45am starting on March 31st. Students can access the zoom rehearsal link on Mrs. Ross’s canvas page.
The two outdoor rehearsals will be held socially distanced as a group in May. Mrs. Ross will explain the Choir Creator program to the students so that they will know how to record their performance. The recorded performances will then be used to create the virtual choir concert. Mrs. Ross will be looking for parent volunteers for the two in-person rehearsals. Please add your information to the student choir form if you are interested in volunteering. We are looking forward to having an HRE choir again!
I personally have missed making music together. Thanks so much!
~Mrs. Ross

Spring Book Fair
The Spring Book Fair will be April 19th - 23rd. All classes will visit the book fair once during the school week. The students will be able to purchase books, posters, and other merchandise. A majority of books cost between $4-$10. We do not collect sales tax.
Please send money IN AN ENVELOPE and write your child’s name, teacher, and amount on the envelope. Please include a permission slip if your child is bringing more than $25. Students who are not purchasing books are welcome to create a wish list.
Our media specialist, Mrs. Avery, will be posting a virtual sneak peak of the bookfair shelves on her canvas site on April 16th. Please be sure to take some time to have your child look at the titles that will be available. Our classes only have 20 minutes to shop, so it will be helpful for them to have an idea of the books they want. Your child's class will be attending the bookfair during their regular library time. You can contact your child's teacher for more information about when their class will attend the bookfair.
If your child attends HRE virtually, please click on the following link for access to our online bookfair (it is preferred that only students that cannot attend the bookfair in person use this link to make their purchases):

CONTACT TRACING
Moving forwards, HSE schools will no longer send a skylert to the entire school when there is a positive covid case in the building. Families will only be notified if their student(s) are a close contact. This change in practice is to reduce confusion. All COVID-related cases among students and staff can be found on the COVID-19 Data Dashboard, which is updated on Monday mornings. The dashboard was created to provide transparency about what is happening in the school corporation.
