Underage drinking

Underage drinking is when anyone under the minimum legal drinking age of 21 drinks alcohol.

Underage drinking is a risk that attracts many developing adolescents and teens. When young people try alcohol, they often don’t realize the damaging effects drinking can have on their own lives, their families, and their communities. Aside from being illegal, underage drinking is a widespread public health problem that poses many risks.

Drinking and driving

An estimated 32% of fatal car crashes involve an intoxicated driver or pedestrian.

  • Nearly 13,000 people are killed each year in alcohol-related accidents. Hundreds of thousands more are injured. Drinking alcohol and driving simply do not go together. The human brain has to deal and think about many other things and drinking affects the brain thinking. Also affects one’s ability to make quick decisions on the road, react to changes in the environment and is difficult to control the wheel.
