Weaver Lake Family Newsletter
May/June 2023
Message from the Principal
Greetings Weaver Lake Wolfpack,
It is hard to believe that this our last school newsletter for the 2022 - 23 school year! I would like to thank you for all your support of our students, staff and wolfpack community. The support that the PTO and you have provided the school have allowed our STEM Scholars to participate in fundraisers like the Fun Run, Read-a-thon, Book Fairs, Dine to Donate events, and cookie dough, butter braids and pizza selling. I'll never forget being duct taped to a wall! I'd like to also thank you for the hundreds of hours you have given to the school whether it be volunteering, communicating with teachers, helping your child with their assignments and reading with them!
All of our students have been in our new Starlab at least once, participated in an artist-in-residency class, and other STEM experiences both virtually and outside of the building. Our Weaver Lake Wolves have also earned STEM Identity badges for being questioners, creators, communicators, problem solvers, collaborators, collectors, analyzers, and evaluators!
And the year is not over yet - we've got the carnival, 5th grade DARE Graduation, Superkids day, Kindergarten Orientation, PTO Twins game and end of the year activities! If you are a K - 4 parent/guardian and you haven't filled out the intent to return form, please do so here.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8 - 12! PTO and I will be celebrating our incredibly hard working and dedicated staff! I'm so proud to be a part of the Weaver Lake Wolfpack and of our students and staff. For our 5th grade families and others that are moving on, please keep in touch as we can't wait to see and hear the incredible things that our STEM scholars achieve! Otherwise, we look forward to continuing to STEM with you next year!
With Warm Regards,
Lena Christiansen, Principal

Volunteer Coordinator Update
Greetings Weaver Lake Elementary Volunteers!
The Weaver Lake Carnival is Friday, May 5 and we still have a great need for volunteers. Shifts are scheduled so that you can help out and still have time to enjoy the fun with your family. There are perks to volunteering this one as well, like free punch cards and discounts to the food trucks that will be on site. Fun and food, what more can you ask for in a volunteer opportunity? Sign up today! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48aaa72eaafecf8-weaver3#/
Each grade level is in the midst of collecting volunteer chaperones for their spring field trips. If you want to be sure that you’re the first to hear about opportunities like this, be sure to register as a volunteer by filling out the online application! https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/Nzg0OmVuLVVT
Super Kids day will be making its comeback for the first time since 2019 this spring! We will need volunteers to help run different track and field style stations. All Weaver Lake students participate in this event, so be sure to watch your inbox for more information!
We are still looking for volunteers to help during recess with the Big Blue Blocks! If you have an hour available, we’d love to see you here. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48aaa72eaafecf8-blue#/
Thank you so much to the over 300 registered volunteers this year for making our program so successful. You’ve helped teachers, staff, classrooms, students and the entire Weaver Lake community by volunteering over 2500 hours this year! Your time and efforts don’t go unnoticed and everyone here appreciates all that you have done for our school.
Want to volunteer next year? Each school year, volunteers will need to re-register. Watch your inbox this summer for the email alert that it’s time to renew. We’ll need volunteers beginning the first week back, so be sure you’re on the mailing list!
