Academy of the Arts at Bransom
October 10-13, 2017 (School Days 34-37)
A Note from Your Principal
Do you know what usually happens a few weeks into a new year? We realize the New Year's Resolutions you made have fallen by the wayside. Sometimes we never jump back on track and finish strong. Goals set at the beginning of a school year can work the same way. As we get back into the swing of another week, it's time reexamine our goals. We can not afford to give up now. There is too much to gain be getting back on track and finishing strong.
I'm sure many of you set the goal to spend quality time with your child and encourage him/her to do their very best. Hopefully, you set the goals to make sure your child has a nutritious meal each morning and every evening. I am confident each of you had a goal to stick to a good bedtime to support an energetic morning. Regardless of how we've done so far, it matters that you recommit. It will be good for your whole family.
In addition to setting and fulfilling goals, it is important to remember the standards set by the district and campus to support keeping our students free from unsafe and uncomfortable situations. For example, our standard dress guidelines help keep our students from feeling like they have to compete with others with their clothes. We explain to students that our uniforms are their work clothes. They have a job to do at school and they are dressed for success. Parents need to remember that students can not wear out-of-uniform jackets while in class. However, any school appropriate jacket can be worn outside during recess. This week a few cooler temperatures have been promised. If your child brings a jacket/coat to school, please put their name in the jacket so that it can be returned if lost/found.
Everyone wants their children to be successful. For that to happen, parents and school staff must reaffirm everyday to stay in the game and do whatever it takes to finish strong. Here at the Academy of the Arts at Bransom, we are very interested in your opinions and thoughts about the culture we are creating. Last week, Mr. Mason and I sent a Culture Survey to all parents. If you completed that survey, THANKS. If you did not, it is not too late. Please take a few minutes to tell us how we are doing by Wednesday, October 11. Again, your thoughts and opinions matter as we move forward to finish strong.

Thanks for a great start to #2 grading period for 2nd-5th graders. Kinder and 1st graders have four more days in their first grading period. Hang in there and see so much progress as we move through.
I hope to see you or hear from you soon if you have questions, accolades, or concerns to share. As always, we know you have a choice in your child's education and we appreciate you choosing the Academy of the Arts at Bransom.

Also, last week was a great week to see dancing in the building. PE Studio students were great as they performed for parents and friends.
