A Message From Mrs. Rateno
Center Families,
Thank you to all for helping us to celebrate the end of this very momentous school year! It was wonderful to see so many students and families over the past two weeks during our Farewell Parades. All of the signs, cheering, and final moments together were very much appreciated by our staff. It was also fun to watch our Cyclones celebrate with their classes during beach parties, talent shows, ice cream parties, and many other remote events! Although our school year did not end as expected, our students, parents, and staff pulled together to provide some very unique experiences for our students.
As we wrap up this year, I cannot help but think about how everyone worked together to make this school year special. To our students, thank you for working hard to learn in a variety of settings and for taking on challenges with one another. Your smiles, laughter, and excitement for learning were the highlight of our days! To our Center School Association and the many volunteers who helped us out throughout the year, thank you for sharing your time with us. You have helped us model what it means to be a caring part of a school community. To all of our parents and families, thank you for welcoming us into your homes and teaming up with us to provide learning experiences for your children. We have enjoyed meeting pets, sharing talents, reading together, and working with you to help your child navigate remote learning on such short notice. To our fifth graders, we are so very proud of the leadership you showed this year. We know you will continue to grow and blossom as middle schoolers, and we wish you the best in your journey ahead.
While many questions are still unanswered, please know that Mayfield is committed to preparing thoughtfully for the fall of 2020-2021. We are researching, reflecting, and working hard to develop plans for a variety of possible scenarios. We will share information as much as possible with you as decisions are made. As always, our ultimate goal is to provide a safe learning environment for our entire Mayfield family. We know that as a school community we will continue to team together to provide a safe and caring environment for our students.
I wish everyone a safe, healthy, and wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you again in the fall!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kate Rateno
Principal, Center Elementary School
