Yelm Community Schools
August 2019
Superintendent's Message
While you have been away, maintenance and facilities crews have been revitalizing our campuses, teachers and administrators have been attending training on curriculum and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and the community has been providing amazing support to our families in needs. Special thank you to Yelm Rotary's 10-weeks of Summer program, TOGETHER's Community Resource Center, and the numerous other civic groups who have supported our families. We are excited to have the students back in just a few short weeks!
DISTRICT NEWS
MS/Elementary Open House
School offices open on August 15 to support our families. We invite students to meet their teachers at open house on August 28. See each school website for specific times, details and school supply lists.
Strong planning, quality communication and expert installation kept the project on time and within budget. Fall athletes will begin practices on the turf Aug 21, and new procedures are being implemented for community use.
To celebrate, the Seahawks organization with Blitz and Sea Gals will join YHS students for a welcome back assembly at 11:30am on Friday, September 6. The Yelm Chamber is promoting a community-wide Blue Friday. After school, tailgate activities will continue prior to the game. A pregame ceremony will be held with ribbon cutting and special coin toss at the first home football game against Skyview. Come celebrate with us!
Online applications will open in Skyward on August 15. We encourage all families who applied last year to re-submit the application to avoid discontinued support. Visit our district website for more information or contact our Food Service Department at 360.458.1100, ext 11-505.
