A new 4-H year calls for a new team of 4-H Ambassadors!
Are you up for the challenge? If you're a youth age 14-18, we'd love to have you as a Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Ambassador! Applications are due Tuesday, September 22.
- If selected, youth will serve as Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Ambassadors October 1, 2020 - August 31, 2021.

The Douglas-Sarpy 4-H staff would like to recognize 4-H members and volunteers for their achievements! Nebraska 4-H recognizes and awards individuals and groups for outstanding achievements and contributions to their community, club, and their own personal development. Recognition and awards are available throughout all levels and programs of 4-H. Report forms for the Diamond Clover Program, Club of Excellence and Volunteer of Excellence are due October 1. Diamond Clover Program
For youth who wish to excel and get acknowledged for their hard work in Nebraska 4-H. Club of Excellence
For all clubs who work hard, do good & strive to be EXCELLENT. To receive the designation as a Nebraska 4-H Club of Excellence, clubs must meet a certain set of criteria and document how this criterion was met. 4-H Adventure Days
Financial Literacy for 4-H'ers!
FREE Financial Literacy class for school-aged children (5th – 8th grade). If your family is remote learning or homeschooling, add our financial literacy class to your Tuesday afternoon plans!
Sign up while there is still room! The classes are Tuesdays at 1 (via zoom) starting in September.
STATEWIDE OPPORTUNITIES
Livestock Judging Contest
The 2020 State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest IN-PERSON at the UNL Animal Science Complex Arena on Sunday, September 20th!
- Registration/Check-in will begin at 7:00am.
- Contest will begin at 8:00am.
Their will be multiple changes to this year's contest, please see those below:
- This will be a Senior Division Only contest. Each team will be limited to 5 contestants and only one coach and one other chaperone if needed.
- Everyone attending the contest will wear a mask and hand sanitizer stations will be present throughout the facility.
- Livestock classes will be arranged in a more spread-out fashion and we may implement a 2-round system for the placings portion of the contest.
- Youth will maintain at least 10-foot distancing from reasons takers during that portion of the competition.
- We will not arrange a live awards ceremony on site. Awards will either be announced on Facebook live or simply sent out by email. Awards will be mailed as well.
- We will not be providing any pencils, clipboards, paper, etc.. to the youth. Each team shall bring their own materials. We will only handout placing cards and contestant numbers in the team packets.
- We will not be providing lunch this year but plan to have the contest finished by 1-2pm.
If you need hotel rooms for Saturday night, the Staybridge Suites I-80 will be providing a special rate.

4-H Camps Fall Offerings
Adventure Day Camps with Douglas Sarpy Extension:
October 10, 16, 17 & 31
Open to all youth ages: 6-14
Location: Schramm State Recreation Area. Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm, optional extended evenings.
Nebraska 4-H school year camps provide a wonderful opportunity for youth to get away from it all and spend quality time connecting with nature and the great outdoors while they have days off from school or are on school breaks. We're proud to partner with Douglas-Sarpy County Extension 4-H Youth Development to offer science-based school-year day camps. Through these experiences, youth have the opportunity to explore the natural world at Schramm State Recreation Area. These day camps allow youth to connect with friends while enjoying their natural surroundings. All of our programs follow CDC and ACA recommendation for in-person activities, with hand sanitizer, masks and social distancing. https://4h.unl.edu/camps-centers/school-year-camps

Get 4-H Camp shipped to you in a Box! 4-H Camp in a Box includes everything you'll need to complete a fun, hands-on activity. Additional add-on kits are also available for an extra $10. Shipping within the state of Nebraska is included in the cost of the kit. For an additional $5.00, we'll even ship to surrounding states, including Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota.

2020 4-H Foundation Trail Ride:
This year’s 4-H Foundation Trail Ride will be held on October 2-4, 2020. Join us for an enjoyable, guided ride through the scenic Nebraska National Forest near Halsey. Enjoy delicious meals, family activities, and great entertainment. All proceeds support the Nebraska 4-H camp programs. To register, mail the completed registration form to the Nebraska 4-H Foundation, , PO Box 4500, Lincoln, NE 68504. The registration fee is $50 per adult and $25 per youth if postmarked before September 20. After September 20 the registration fee is $60 per adult and $35 per youth. Join us for just the Saturday night Trail Supper, silent auction and entertainment for $20 (included in Trail Ride registration). All events are subject to the local health department’s Directed Health Measures and may be cancelled. If the event must be cancelled we will issue full refunds to registrants. No refunds will be made if participant is unable to attend.
