Thank you for your patience as we adjust to the new school year amid the construction and pandemic. We appreciate your feedback on our arrival and dismissal process and do our best to make adjustments as situations arise. Please understand that we are limited in what we can do given the constraints around our campus. We do expect that the efficiency of the bus arrival and exit will become more routine next week as Greene and JH students learn their process.

We are encouraging all who CAN ride the bus to please do so to help traffic on our campus and on Cooper Rd.

Parent Pickup: No Parking @ Pipkin's

Please do NOT park or wait for your child at Pipkin's. Doing so takes up spots from their regular customers and compromises our great relationship with our neighbors!

Dress Code Reminder

As we begin the school year, we are expecting warm weather, and thus would like to remind families of our dress code policy. Some warm-weather clothes are in violation of our dress code policy.

The faculty and administration have a responsibility and an obligation to enforce a dress code that provides for the students' health, personal hygiene, safety, and effective education. Please remind your child of the below expectations.

Students are not permitted to wear the following:

  1. See-through garments, exposed midriffs, strapless tops, spaghetti straps, low cut shirts that show cleavage, pajamas, lounge wear, house shoes/slippers or muscle shirts.
  2. Clothing that reveals undergarments
  3. Shorter length shorts and skirts

Thank you for supporting our school's dress code policy so that our students may start the school year on a positive note.

Sycamore Junior High Open House Sept 14

Sycamore Junior High's Open House is just around the corner. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we will again be conducting this open house virtually using Google Meet.

WHAT: Open House/Meet the Teacher

WHEN: Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 6:00pm-7:00pm

Parents AND students should attend!

HOW: Parents will need their child in attendance to help log in.

TIP: We recommend that parents print a copy of their child’s schedule from the My eBackpack tab in Parent Portal or from the child’s Blackboard account.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Parents and students will watch a welcome video, then log into the student’s first bell classroom to begin the evening. If the student has a conflict and will not be in attendance, parents will need access to their student’s login information. Parents can NOT access the Blackboard classroom from a parent’s Parent Portal account.

They must log in as the student.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS will be sent next week!

Clubs & Activities

Sycamore Junior High has many ways for your child to get involved! Clubs and activities do not begin until several weeks after school resumes. Dates and times of initial meetings will be announced several days ahead of time so students have the opportunity to attend the first meeting.

The Junior High PTO has two great opportunities that allow you to be part of making our school great.

FLIGHTFEST The PTO has one major fundraiser a year and it's coming up this October. We have a great chairperson and a great example to follow but we need people to fill out the team. There is a race, a silent auction, and an opportunity to invite local businesses to support us. A successful event will allow us to provide ongoing funding for JH clubs, arts, and athletics. Will you help? Contact Megan Lee at

JUNIOR HIGH AMBASSADORS - We are in the process bringing more of the Ambassador program from other Sycamore Schools to the Junior High. Ambassadors work with all families new to the Junior High and especially families from diverse backgrounds and cultures or who speak English as a second language. In addition to programs that might be started this year, the team will be working toward hosting our first Cultural Heritage Night in the winter of 2023. Contact Brian Gath at
