Mistral Essentials - March 11, 2020
A note from the Principal
Many thanks for your patience and flexibility as we make changes to help limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Please know that events are postponed, rescheduled, or cancelled out of an abundance of caution and care for our children and our community.
All the following restrictions are being observed at all sites. At this time, we will not have volunteers or parents as volunteers in the classrooms. All field trips, performances, and assemblies are on hold until Spring Break, at which time we will reevaluate the situation and communicate any changes to you. Parent meetings like PTA, Principal’s Coffees, and Family Chats are suspended at this time. After-school events are postponed at this time. Very small groups of tutoring are still taking place as needed so that our students have all the academic support they need.
Please remember that our top priority is ensuring that students are learning in a safe environment. If your child is sick, please keep him or her home. Be as detailed as possible in your description of symptoms when you report the absence. If a parent or other caregiver is diagnosed with or comes into contact with the virus, please let us know immediately; in this case, do not come to school and do not bring your child to school. Staff members know what to look for; if a student comes to the office with symptoms, our staff will alert the District nurse, who will evaluate the student, and issue further instructions to our team, which could include isolation of the student in the nurse’s office, giving the student a mask to wear, and calling the parent.
As we go through this difficult time together, please reach out for any questions or concerns you may have. My goal is to keep you informed. The District’s coronavirus information and communications are found at https://www.mvwsd.org/coronavirus.
- To Principal Miller: "Thank you for organizing the monthly Principal/Family chats and for listening to and acting on parent feedback."

Make sure you’re counted! The U.S. Census is coming up
It’s crucial that we all participate, because an accurate count of residents is important for funding our community’s public resources, planning for the future, and for our voice in government. We all want to make sure that Mountain View gets the funding, services, and business support we need.
Responses are confidential and by law, your personal information cannot be shared. You can respond to the U.S. Census online or by mail. Look for your postcard this week. To learn more, visit 2020census.gov.
