Matador Band Premieres Contest Show

The Fall 2021 production for the Matador Band is entitled "Moth to a Flame." Check out the amazing color guard uniforms designed specifically for the production! The band program and band booster club hosted the "Seguin Marching Festival" on September 25th. After a one year hiatus due to Covid, the festival was a great success bringing approximately 2,500 participants and spectators to Matador stadium throughout the day. The Matador Band performed an exciting exhibition performance to close out the evening. The top three competing guest bands earning awards were: Warren H.S., Judson H.S., and Steele H.S.

The Matador Band will be competing in events each Saturday in October. Good luck!! #MatadorProud

New Thespians and Upcoming Performances

The Matador Theatre will soon be presenting a children's musical production of "Madagascar, Jr." for all Seguin ISD elementary students K - 5. This show will be open for public performances on October 20 - 21. See below for complete season ticket information. Individual show tickets can be purchased at Keepers or Gift & Gourmet in Seguin.

Matador Thespian Troupe #5897 had an induction ceremony on Tuesday, 9/28. Several new members were inducted. Congratulations to the new Matador Thespians!

Both Briesemeister M.S. and Barnes M.S. will have thespians participate in the Texas Junior Thespian Regional Fesitval on October 23rd. This event will allow students to enjoy educational workshops, competitive events, and performances.

Mariachi and Ballet Folklórico Unite!

The newly formed SHS Ballet Folklórico class and the award winning Mariachi Matador have joined forces for some combined performances. These included a Dieciséis de Septiembre performance at Koennecke Elementary, lunchtime showcases at Seguin High School, and upcoming performances at Ball ECC.

Mariachi Matador recently had fifteen students honored as TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) All-Region Mariachi members. They will perform in a clinic and concert at Churchill H.S. in San Antonio on December 11 - 12.

Visual Arts Explore Creativity!

The visual arts in Seguin ISD are continuing to explore a variety of techniques and medium at all levels of instruction. Recently, SHS students Zoe Seldon and Katalina Gaitan had art displayed at the TASA / TASB conference for Texas school administrators and school boards. There are several other students preparing to submit artwork for the upcoming Guadalupe County Fair art contest.

Choirs Prepare for Upcoming Events!

The Seguin ISD choirs all have fall concerts coming soon in October. SHS choir students are also busy preparing for upcoming TMEA Region Choir auditions that will be hosted at Seguin HS on October 9th. In addition to these activities, the SHS choir also had students recently attend an annual leadership retreat at Mo Ranch in Hunt, Texas.
