A note from the principal...
The first two weeks of school have flown by. Our students and staff have been working hard at establishing positive relationships, building routines, and learning how to be prepared to learn. As we enter week three, we will begin benchmark testing for all students K-6. This testing will take place within the classroom and will help us make educational decisions about how to best support your child’s learning at Disney.
We must all continue to practice patience as we drop-off and pick-up students at Disney Elementary. Please do not arrive at Disney before 3:15 p.m. to pick up your student. School dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. and oftentimes our students are still utilizing the playground and blacktop located in the north parking lot until 3:15 p.m. For the safety of our students, please be respectful of our school hours and avoid arriving before 3:15 p.m. for pickup.
A few reminders:
- For a variety of reasons, a child may need a change of clothes at school. We encourage parents to keep a spare outfit in their child’s backpack in case of an accident.
- Please include a drink in your child’s lunch if they bring bag lunch form home. Milk is available during lunch; however, this year student accounts will be charged for a milk.
- The delivery of food and beverages from outside vendors or fast-food establishments for a student’s breakfast of lunch meal are NOT allowed. All meals are to be provided by either our Food Service program or prepared at home and sent with your student.
- Due to student food allergies, Birthday Treats are not allowed to be brought in and shared with classmates. Students are welcome to bring in a non-food birthday treat to share.
I would like to thank the entire Disney Community for such a warm welcome and great start to the school year. Disney is truly a special place, and I am so excited to be here with you and your child.
With Disney Pride,
Mrs. Porter
Principal
Parking Lot Reminders
- Please be distraction free - refrain from using cell phones, loud music, or other distracting activities. Pay attention and be on the lookout for people walking through the lots
- Please do not arrive before 3:15 to line up for dismissal.
- Please use Disney's parking lot for arrival and dismissal. Parking on Kelly or in the subdivision will likely result in traffic tickets.
- The driveway in the front of the school is for bus parking and exiting traffic only. Families may not walk through the bus driveway at dismissal.
- The South lot is NOT a drop-off/ pick-up zone. It is for staff parking only.
- When in the drop-off/pick-up lane, please pull all the way forward and do not exit your vehicle. Students should quickly exit/enter the passenger side.
- Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Please help everyone in the Disney Community by following our parking lot procedures. We understand that our dismissal can be stressful and intense with the high volume of car pickup students. If we all follow our parking lot procedures and practice patience, we will be able to quickly exit everyone safely.
iPad Update...
You can always change the option for your child's OPT IN or OPT OUT to taking the iPad home by completing a new Technology Agreement Form. You can find the agreement by clicking here.
If you have any unpaid fines, please pay them as soon as possible. Please talk with your child about where their "home base" will be to charge the iPad each night. iPads should come to school fully charged each day.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Cichocki at dorothy.cichocki@fraserk12.org.
The Second Step Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum K-8
As you know, last week we kicked of the Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Ike to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home.

Attendance Matters...
A Great Resource in Our Own Backyard
Lunch Aides Needed
Indoor Lineup
We may have to switch to indoor lineup when the weather that brings heavy rain, cold, ice, or wind. In the event of an indoor lineup, students will not be able to enter the building until 8:20 a.m. Students will enter door #1 between 8:20 – 8:30 a.m. In the event we must switch to indoor line-up, a message will be sent to families and a sign will be posted outside the main door.
Free & Reduced Meals
When the 2021-2022 school year ended, so did free meals for every student. While the federal government funded a program that allowed all students access to free meals during the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress has declined to continue funding this program.
- Parents should submit a free & reduced application to determine if they qualify for free or reduced priced meals.
- There is a carry over period (30 school days from the first day of school) where students can use their status from the previous school year. This ONLY applies to actual benefits, meaning not all students are free for 30 days to start the year because everyone was free last year.
- Meal prices will remain the same as they were pre-Covid (last time students had to pay).
- Elementary Breakfast $1.35
- Reduced Breakfast $0.30
- Elementary Lunch $2.35
- Reduced Lunch $0.40
- We will be using a monthly Meal Order Form. Parents must complete the Meal Order Form each month in order to receive breakfast or lunch. These should be submitted to the Meal Coordinators prior to the start of the next month.
- Fresh fruit & vegetable bars are back!
- All prepayments should be made ONLINE using the new Family Portal.
Please complete the 2022-2023 online application to find out if your family qualifies for free or reduced-price meals.
