WATCH DOGs: Coming Soon
Fathers and father figures,
The Watch DOGs program was created by the National Center for Fathering. Its purpose is to increase male involvement in schools and provide positive male role models for students. The program is a chance for fathers or father figures (grandfathers, uncles, etc.) to take an active part in their students' day. The program invites “Dads” to spend a day or half day at school volunteering in various ways. The Watch DOGs help with everything from welcoming students in the morning, mentoring students one on one with reading or math games, helping out at recess playing games, patrolling the campus and hallways, eating lunch with students, and spending time in your student’s classroom. Students and staff look forward to our Watch DOGs each and every day. Their presence and support for our school is greatly appreciated. For more information about Watch DOGs please watch the video links below. In order to serve as a WATCH Dog please complete the volunteer training and background check. If you need any assistance with completing the background check, volunteer training, or how to sign up please contact our school office. Be on the lookout for a future announcement about our WATCH DOGs kick off event.

COVID Health Guidelines
The Washington State Department of Health has issued updated COVID-19 health and safety guidance for schools this fall. Following these safety measures reduces the spread of COVID-19 in our school community.
Health and safety requirements for this fall:
Students and staff who show symptoms of COVID-19 are required to stay home, or go home, if they become ill at school. Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms must have a test to rule out COVID-19 before returning to school.
Students, staff, and families seeking testing should contact their schools directly. All COVID-19 testing at school will still require paper or digital consent to be signed or on file.
Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate themselves at home for 5 full calendar days. After day 5, if symptoms improve and they have had no fever for the past 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications, students and staff can come back to school.
It is recommended, but not required, that students and staff returning to school after their 5 days of isolation:
wear a well-fitted mask from days 6 to 10, and
remain masked for sports and other extracurricular activities on days 6 to 10.
Students and staff who test positive after 5 days of isolation must stay at home for the full 10-day isolation period.
We will continue to communicate cases and outbreaks to families and staff in our weekly COVID-19 dashboard. The dashboard will be updated weekly on Wednesdays. These requirements are in place for all public and private K-12 schools and childcare facilities in Washington state. Schools and childcare facilities are required by state law to follow these guidelines.
Families are encouraged to test as needed at home. Students, staff, and families may access tests at no cost from all of our schools. Additionally, in Washington state, you can receive free self-tests from Say Yes! COVID Test program. Most insurance covers the costs of up to 8 self-tests per individual per month.
COVID-19 vaccinations remain the best protection for everyone against hospitalization and severe disease from COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccine is now available for children 6 months and older. Booster doses are also available for children 5 years and older. You are encouraged to vaccinate your children if they are eligible, in consultation with your healthcare provider.
Want to Volunteer?
All volunteers must be cleared through Washington State Patrol background checks. You do this by completing the volunteer form. This form can be filled out electronically or we have hard copies in the office, and you may leave those with us to turn into Human Resources. Once HR has completed the background checks, your name is added to our cleared list. You may contact the office to see if this process is completed.
All volunteers must also do the HIB training. This is now available by watching a short video and submitting your agreement electronically.
The following are needed to complete the Volunteer Application:
-Volunteer Application
-Volunteer Handbook Acknowledgment (found on the final page of the handbook)
-Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Training (Access Online Training HERE)
The volunteer form must be completed and cleared every two years.
The HIB training must be done every year.
