Fabulous 1st Grade
March 5, 2021
Language Workshop
In Language Workshop, students have been learning about important people in history. The children loved learning about these brave men and women, especially Ruby Bridges! Have them tell you what they learned!
A Picture Book of George Washington
A Picture Book of Abraham Lincoln
The Story of Ruby Bridges
Math Workshop
In math, we started working on Word Problem Strategies. Pictured here are the main strategies that your child is being encouraged to use when solving problems. Ask them to show you how they work!
Reading Workshop
In reading, first-graders are becoming experts on finding and using verbs, nouns and adjectives! Not only are they noticing them in their stories during reading time, but they are using them in their own stories during writing time!
Science
In science, first graders have been working to answer the question how do living things change to survive? They learned that animals adapt to their environment by migrating and hibernating.
Reminders:
Thank you for reminding your child to charge their iPad each night before bed. We have limited charging capabilities in our classrooms.
The expectation for the end of first grade is that kids should be able to enjoy reading for at least 30 minutes. How is your child doing? We believe the best gift you can give your child is to foster a love of reading. Try a family read-a-loud each night as part of your bedtime routine! It's great for bonding, loads of fun and fosters a love for stories!
