Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews - Phone Call Conversation

Parent/Teacher Interviews are intended for teachers to be available to report progress of the student and to provide professional advice and to make ourselves available for feedback from parents about the learning at home.

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 19 – 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 21 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

We will be using an online booking system, as in the past, to book conferences. Bookings will open up on Thursday, October 14 at 3:30 p.m.

You will be able to book conferences for both timeslots. You will not be able to schedule any interviews before that time. Teachers will be conducting interviews via phone call and not in person. We will send out the booking link and more information on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

We are happy to welcome to Ardrossan Jr. Sr. High School, School Resource Officer, Constable Denise Caissie. Please say hello to her as she begins with the herd!

Thanks to our Strathcona RCMP department for reinstating this support for our students and us.

EIPS Online Reporting of COVID Case Numbers

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is now reporting weekly COVID-19 case numbers in schools, along with the list of EIPS schools currently on illness outbreak. Data will be updated each Friday afternoon. Reported COVID-19 Cases.

The COVID-19 numbers in the list reflect only the cases self-reported to the Division. Albertans are contacted by Alberta Health Services (AHS) when they test positive for COVID-19. EIPS asks families and staff to continue reporting positive test results to the applicable school to ensure the Division follows up with proper cleaning protocols. When a positive case is reported, the school will continue to let the affected school community know directly via a SchoolMessenger email as it has in the past.

A small amendment was also made to the EIPS Operations Guidelines. EIPS schools will now accept either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result from volunteers wishing to help out. The negative COVID-19 test must be a privately paid COVID-19 PCR or rapid test and completed within 72 hours. Schools will not accept a test result from either AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories.

Reporting Absences

To help schools remain healthy and safe, EIPS asks families always to inform school staff when a child is absent. Let them also know if the reason for being away is related to an illness and the symptoms. Doing so allows the school to monitor and report illness trends accurately to Alberta Health Services and Alberta Education.

Pay School Fees Online!

School fee information for the 2021-22 school year is now posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online using Visa, MasterCard or debit card—when available from your financial institution.

Don’t forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities fees and more.

If circumstances exist where you are unable to pay your fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2021.

For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit www.eips.ca/schools/fees and www.ardrossan.ca/about/fees. Alternatively, contact Kim Walsh at Ardrossan Jr. Sr. High at 780-922-2228.
