Ben Davis High School Class of 2018
Testing, Scholarships & Upcoming Events! 7/21/17
Its time to Register for the SAT and the ACT!
The SAT & ACT are standardized tests that most colleges use to evaluate prospective students. Students must have a score on either the SAT or the ACT to be considered for admission.
November 1 is the early admission deadline for many colleges and universities in the State of Indiana. In order to meet this priority deadline, either an SAT or ACT score is probably required. Students in the Class of 2018 should plan to test as soon as possible.
Test dates and deadlines can be found by following this link. 17-18 SAT & ACT Dates
Fee Waivers
- Free or reduced lunch
- 21st Century Scholar
- Avid
- Family receives public assistance
- Homeless
- Ward of the State
- If there is an extenuating circumstance not included in this list, please see your counselor or Mrs. Coyne.
**IMPORTANT*** The testing companies have established strict guidelines for the use of fee waivers. Students can receive one fee waiver for the SAT and ACT during their junior year and one fee waiver for the SAT and ACT during their senior year. Once you have registered for a test using a fee waiver, you must either take the test or reschedule by the deadline. If you cancel or do not show to the testing site, you have lost your waiver!
How to Prepare?
The best way to prepare for both the SAT and ACT is to take and work hard in rigorous classes. Specific test preparation is a great way to become comfortable with the content and format of each test and to review key topics.
SAT prep is available online through the Khan academy. This program is free for all students and will use prior tests (including the PSAT) to personalize a program based on the needs of the student.
ACT prep is available online through Kaplan. This program is free for students who pay for the ACT with a fee waiver. Like the Khan Academy, the Kaplan program will use prior test scores to design a personalized program for each student.
