We Are Growing Readers!
Sharing Our Passion & Our School
In one of the Twitter feeds that we follow there was a tweet about a family's Open House experience. It summarized what a family really wants. It read, "I want to know you love my child, you love your job and that you will have fun learning together."
This tweet really hit home with us. We read it over again and in our heads were confirming "check, check and check!"
We know you will feel our Team's love and passion while gaining important information regarding your child's school experience at our Share Your School event. See you Wednesday evening!
With Pride,
Andy & Brandy
You’re invited to join us for our annual Share Your School event on Wednesday, September 25th between 6:30-7:30 pm. The evening is structured in a way that you can visit your child’s classroom as well as other areas of our school at your leisure at any time during that hour. Prior to this evening event you will receive a copy of any presentation materials planned by your teacher(s) for your review. During the event this material may be elaborated on. Structuring the event in this way allows our entire Memorial Team to be present and available for our community and allows you the freedom to come and go from all learning spaces. Our Memorial Team looks forward to greeting all learners and their families and further developing relationships.
We understand that inviting the entire community on one night means our parking lots will be very busy. We have planned for this with additional temporary parking spaces and will have staff directing cars in our lots. We appreciate your patience and assistance with ensuring a safe evening for all visitors.
We are excited to showcase our teams throughout the month of September!

10% Parent Feedback Letter and Action Plan
Feedback forms with selected individualized growth targets are already coming back to the school and we look forward to partnering with you. Parent Feedback Goal Resources are available on a tab on our web page--http://www.easthamptonps.org/o/memorial-school.
If you have not yet sent the form in please feel free to bring it to our Share Your School event and turn it in to your child's teacher.
Thank you for taking time at the end of last year to complete the 2018-2019 Parent Survey. We value our partnership and are committed to responding to concerns. One identified area of focus is providing your child(ren) with academic support when needed. We are excited to grow in this area and this focus will fit nicely with our plan to utilize math workshop approaches, create a math intervention block, and expand our enrichment opportunities.
In an effort to grow our practices and meet the needs of students and families in this area we have created a plan to address this in a few ways:
Create FAST (Focused Academic Support Time) block for each grade level to support all learners.
Provide differentiated and individualized instruction during reading & math FAST block.
Work collaboratively with parents and students to set individual growth targets.
In order to develop individual growth targets for your child(ren) we are sending home a form with academic indicators for you to identify areas of desired growth. We ask that you please complete this to the best of your ability and bring back to the Share Your School event on September 25th. Teachers will share progress on these goals at parent teacher conferences in the fall and spring.
Last year we had 160 responses to our survey. We want to grow this number to ensure all families’ voices are heard. Through this action plan we are aiming to meet the following goal:
As evidenced in responses from the 2019-2020 Parent Feedback Survey we are aiming to move the percentage in the “Always” category to 70% while eliminating the 3.1% “Infrequently” and 1.9% “Never”.

Character Day- Let It Ripple!
Character Day is an annual event that unites millions of people in schools, companies, and homes to develop and deepen their character: strengths like empathy, grit, gratitude, and leadership. Why? Because character development leads not only to school and career success, but also to stronger, more engaged individuals and a more just world. Last year, over 4 million people across 200,000 groups in 125 countries and all 50 states participated in Character Day.
This year on September 27-28, Character Day focuses on the relationship between character and technology. How does technology enhance our character development?

Stop & Shop A+ Rewards
A+ School Rewards are points that supporters earn with each purchase made using their Stop & Shop Card. At the end of each month, the points earned are used in a calculation to determine your school’s cash total, which is then automatically credited to your school’s account. Last year, through our community's support, Memorial School received a check for $3,921.05!
