!!!!!! IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT NURSE !!!!!!
Hi Parents,
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting that Influenza activity is currently very high and expected to continue for weeks. I wanted to reach out and provide you with some information on what influenza symptoms look like, how you can work to prevent yourself and your student from getting the flu, what to do if you think you have the flu, and what to do if you or your student is diagnosed with the flu.

(Flu)
Common Flu Signs & Symptoms
Flu signs and symptoms usually come on suddenly. People who are sick with flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
Fever* or feeling feverish/chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
Your respiratory illness might be the flu if you have fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea. People may be infected with the flu and have respiratory symptoms without a fever. It is impossible to tell for sure if you have the flu based on symptoms alone. Your doctor can do a laboratory tests to diagnosis if you have the flu.
The single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get a yearly flu vaccine. If you haven’t received your vaccination, you can still get it!
Actions to take to STOP the spread:
Please keep your child home when sick until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever* or signs of a fever (chills, feeling very warm, flushed appearance, or sweating) without the use of fever-reducing medicine.
Teach your child to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or their bent arm. If they use a tissue, they should put the used tissue in a trash can immediately after use and wash their hands.
Teach your to wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, dry hands with a paper towel, and use the paper towel to turn off the faucet.
Encourage your child to keep their hands away from their nose, mouth, and eyes.
I am asking all parents to please help us keep our community and schools healthy!
Please wash all your students belongings (backpacks, hats, gloves, coats and snow pants) this weekend. Please wash in hot water to help kill any germs that are hiding in them.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me!
