Let the Adventure Begin...The World Awaits!

Welcome 2019-2020 Students!

Dear LV Primary Parents and Students,

This is your new principal, Shelley Keck! I am so excited to welcome everyone to a new school year! I am new to La Vernia Primary, but not new to La Vernia. I am a lifelong resident and after 19 years in education in area school districts, I am excited to come home! I look forward to a great year and to getting to know each of you!

We are gearing up for our first day of school, August 21, 2019! Teachers have been busy learning this summer and we are excited to meet our students! Below you will find important dates and information.

We will see you soon!

PreK Questions

If you are waiting to hear a time of PREK classes for your child, please know we are busy working with transportation to get schedules developed! We will let you know as soon as possible your child's class schedule for PREK.

Meet the Teacher Nights- First Stop, Cafeteria!

We invite parents and children to attend Meet the Teacher Night on the following nights:

PPCD, Pre-K and Kindergarten - Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 4:30PM - 6:30PM

First and Second Grade - Monday, August 19, 2019 from 4:30PM - 6:30PM

Please start in the cafeteria and receive your child's teacher assignment. After that, spend time visiting the various tables set up with information. Also, please take time to tour the school as you head to your child's classroom.

You are encouraged to bring your child's school supplies. (PTO will deliver pre-ordered school supply kits to the classrooms.) We look forward to seeing you there!

This is where you will find out your child's daily schedule, including lunch times and PE days.

What will I learn at Meet the Teacher?

Meet the teacher will be the time when everyone comes up and gets to know who their teacher is for the year. You will be able to visit the classroom, talk to the school nurses, visit with child nutrition, YMCA, PTO, Watchdogs, transportation department, and more. (If your child brings medication to school, you may bring it up at Meet the Teacher) You will be able to sign up for the Bear Pack, and also purchase a t-shirt if you would like.

Meet the teacher is come and go style. We look forward to meeting you!

School Supply Lists

Composition Book Questions

Some of our first grade parents have asked questions about the type of composition book that is needed from the supply list. There are many different options- do not stress! The ones with the sketch section at the top is great, as are the ones with primary lined paper. Our teachers are thankful for any variety that comes in and we understand different stores carry different types!

Child Pick Up @ End of Day

It is critical to ensure the teacher and school knows how your child is going home at the end of the day. We want our students safe. If you are changing a normal routine, please be sure to call the school by 2:30 pm. This ensures we get the message to the child's teacher and can change dismissal plan. The earlier you can let us know the better!

Also, please note that students needing to leave school early must be picked up by 2:45 pm. Thank you for your cooperation at our busiest transition time of the day!
