Spring Ridge/ SMCPS Updates
During School Closure
April 3, 2020
Important Information
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and State Superintendent Dr. Karen Salmon announced that school closures were extended to April 24, 2020. Please see the message below from our Superintendent, Dr. Smith, regarding the next steps through April 24.
Continuous Learning Opportunities
As the Edgenuity platform comes online and we are learning more about it we have discovered that it is a very comprehensive, curricular aligned program that we would like to encourage students to use. Edgenuity also has built-in accommodations such as a read-to feature and the ability to retake assessments. Some families chose the paper packet because they were concerned that the online platform would not be a viable option for them but later discovered the ease of logging on through clever on the county website for access. Many students and families found they were even able to use a cell phone or tablet to access the platform and successfully begin their continuous online learning experience.
The online modules are self-paced, so students aren't required to complete certain amounts/modules daily. If one day they have trouble logging in or you have amazing outdoor or family learning activities planned...they can continue their learning online later and at your pace. There is a lot of flexibility.
All student Login information is available through the SMCPS Website https://www.smcps.org/ dci/online. Click on the purple button with the C or CLEVER on it. It then gives you step by step instructions for logging in. It looks like this:
