Jensen's Character Council
A long standing tradition at Jensen is the Character Council. Students are selected by their teacher and/or peers to represent their class on Jensen's Character Council. Students are selected based on their leadership skills and for demonstrating the Character Counts Pillars. The Character Counts pillars are trustworthy, caring, citizenship, respect, responsibility, and fairness. The Character Council works throughout the school year to plan events that focus on the 6 Pillars. We have two groups throughout the year. The first group of students serves from August to December. Then a second group of students is selected for January to June. In November, they planned and organized a food drive for the Urbandale Food Pantry. Jensen collected over 600 food items to help make Thanksgiving brighter for 12 area families. The council also organizes and runs a school store where they sell healthy snacks on Monday and Wednesday mornings. The profit from the store goes to fund an all-school end of the year party that the Character Council plans and organizes. Mrs. Burkett and Mr. Pettit are the staff supervisors.
Congratulations SuperHEROes!
