Engaging Learners with Chromebooks in the ELA ClassroomCourse Num: 8 (1)
In this session, participants can see examples of innovative ways to use GAFE and Google Classroom in an ELA classroom. Samples will be be shared with participants to modify and tweak according to the standards for their grade level. Examples will include using Google Forms for PARCC practice, aligning to the Common Core, along with creating assignments with elements of adaptive learning, Docs for reflection and feedback during and after the writing process, and recommendations of various apps, extensions, and add-ons for the ELA classroom and productivity.

In this course, the participants will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience using WeVideo, LucidPress, Storyboard That, Smore, and GlogsterEDU as they discover new ways to update their classroom projects. Student work samples (grade 6 literacy classroom) will be provided for participants to view. All participants will walk away with new tools to use and handouts for future reference. *Geared towards literacy teachers, but easily adaptable for other subjects.

Flip your classroom using Ted-EdCourse Num: 20 (1)
Ted-Ed is a free educational website designed for teachers and students. Teachers can find pre-created lessons with educational videos and questions, or design their own then share them with students. Students can watch the videos at home, answer the questions, and come to class prepared for discussion the next day. What an easy way to front load your lessons! Additionally, this can be used to differentiate your lessons, allowing extra practice or enrichment for any and all students.

Using Excel to Analyze DataCourse Num: 21 (1)
To make sense of a volume of data, we often would like to be able to visualize and summarize the results. A popular way of handling and storing data is through a spreadsheet, with Microsoft's Excel being the most popular spreadsheet software. The purpose of this workshop is to show how to work with Excel's built-in functionality and data visualization capabilities. The interaction will vary, depending on group size. For small groups (5-7), I will be able to facilitate more one-on-one interaction and we can look at specific data sets that the class participants may want analyzed. For larger groups (8+), a more traditional / structured approach may be adopted. Regardless, this is a hands-on workshop. You will be working with Excel. We can look at your gradebook and automate formulas and formatting! The topics that can be explored, depending on user interest are as follows for beginners with little or no experience. - Creating plots and graphs (bar charts, pie charts, scatterplots, etc.) - Creating visually pleasing tables ready for print - Conditional formatting (allows the viewer of the spreadsheet to quickly see relevant values or values that need to be brough

Build your professional learning network, create interactive homework assignments, develop effective exit tickets, create instant updates and much more. By the end of this class teachers will walk away with their own twitter account if they do not already have one, as well as new ideas for incorporating twitter into your daily routine.

Google Classroom and BlendspaceCourse Num: 35 (1)
Google Classroom helps teachers create, assign, and collect student classwork and homework paperless. With Google Classroom, teachers can seamlessly integrate Google Docs, Google Drive, and Gmail to create assignments, provide feedback for in progress and completed work, and communicate with their students directly and with whole class announcements--all without using a single piece of paper. Students can work on assignments in Google Docs and turn it in with a few clicks.Blendspace will help you create interactive lessons, subplans, and help you organize your day to day lesson plans. Students can also utilize Blendspace to create exciting presentations as well as create outlines for organizing student work. In this two hour course you will set up accounts in both Google Classroom and Blendspace. You will leave with knowledge of both and ideas on how to incorporate these new tools into your classroom for the coming school year.
