Bobcat Bulletin
Week of May 3rd
From the Desk of Mrs. Schmid
Hello Bobcat Families,
Creativity and innovation was alive this month as we worked on these characteristics as part of our Bobcat Traits. It was wonderful seeing our students show their creativity through such projects as making creative things out of a plastic bag and cardboard box, dig for math problems in a dino-dig, and even find creative ways to say the pledge of allegiance! Students also showed creativity and innovation in solving and working through difficult problems.
A huge thank you to your children for making me feel very special on Friday in honor of Principal's Day! Our 5th grade took the lead with our morning announcements, interviewing students, and even including the pledge, birthdays, and the Bobcat Chant! I received special visits from classes and many, many beautiful cards, flowers, and more! They truly made me feel incredibly special; my first principal's day I will never forget! Our Bobcat family is the best, and I feel honored to be a part of it.
I look forward to celebrating our teachers this week for Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to Mrs. Megan Marshall and the PTA for organizing a great week ahead for our teachers! Thank you to all of you who donated and/or are giving up their time to make sure our teachers feel appreciated. We want to appreciate them every year, but this year especially, they definitely deserve it and beyond! Check out the details below to see all of the fun things planned for them!
Thanks for a great week, Bobcat Families! Here's to another great one ahead!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Keeley Schmid
Principal

Self-Certification Reminder
We ask that parents please remember to complete self-certification before students arrive at school each morning. COVID-19 rates are increasing in our area, and it is important that parents monitor the health of their children and keep them home if they are not feeling well. Since we are following the new guidance of reducing distancing from 6 feet to 3 feet in some classrooms, more students will need to quarantine if an individual in the classroom tests positive. Please help keep our school community healthy as more students return to the classroom.
Interested in a daily morning text Remind(er) to Self-Certify your student(s) who will be attending in-person? If so, sign up for a reminder text! Text @bkdlsc to the number 81010. You will receive a welcome text from Remind and a reminder each morning from Brookdale!
Welcome Class of 2034!
Official registration will begin May 3rd. Please complete the form at the following link so we can share important information with you prior to registration. https://forms.gle/sjgCVBZgY1MR4Mhy6
Residency Verification Process
The district is again contracting with a third party vendor to automatically verify student address information. As was the case last year, we anticipate the overwhelming majority of our families will be electronically verified.
If your residency is electronically verified, you will receive a letter of confirmation and there will be no need to submit any additional paperwork to certify that you live within the district’s boundaries.
A letter will also be sent to families whose residency we are unable to verify electronically. The letter will provide details on additional information you will need to provide by May 3, 2021 in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 204 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
