Principal's Update
Dear Anasazi Families,
How great it was to see so smiling faces return to Anasazi after our Fall Break. We all hope you had a wonderful week away. Now that we are back, we are getting back into the new school routines for this school year. Thank you for your patience as we get acclimated to these changes.
A reminder that this upcoming week brings us three early release days (Wednesday - Friday). Please make sure that your child knows where to go at the 1:15pm dismissal these days. Early Release at 1:15 p.m. for all K-5 students on 10/21, 10/22 & 10/23 are in place to allow time for teachers to conference virtually with parents. If you have questions regarding you child's conference, please reach out to the classroom teacher.
SUSD Calendar Change
Second Quarter Early Release Days Cancelled: All Schools, All Grades
Our 10/28 & 11/18 Early Release days are cancelled in order to optimize student instructional time. Students will attend school 10/28 and 11/18 and follow their typical 2nd quarter schedule (8:45am-3:15pm) instead of an early release on these days.
As we enter into Quarter 2, please make sure to complete the Covid Acknowledgement form below. THIS IS NEEDED FROM EVEY FAMILY RETURNING IN PERSON TO ANASAZI. Also, I will continue to keep the SUSD Covid related links and resources in the weekly newsletter so that you have quick access to information that is updated regularly.
As Fall approaches, many are starting to ask about classroom parties, treats, etc. Unfortunately, due to our current circumstances, we kindly ask that no food or treat bags be provided to classes. There are several reasons for this. One being that we are not open to visitors even for drop offs of materials or goodies. Also, not everyone's comfort level is the same in regards to Covid. That being said - community foods or items packaged outside of school will not be passed out to students. Thank you for understanding as we know this is a huge change for all of us.
As always, thank you for your partnership during this time and always. It is an honor to serve your children.
Respectfully,
Ms. Jennifer Waldron

Welcome Sara Armstrong - New IB Coordinator
Sara Armstrong is a seasoned IB educator and accreditation coordinator. Ms. Armstrong is originally from Michigan but lived in Sweden for 14 years with her Swedish husband and daughter. During that time, she worked at an IB accredited international school where she taught in the PYP and with MYP learning support. She also served as the school’s Council of International Schools accreditation coordinator. Ms. Armstrong has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Education.
In 2017, her family decided to move to Arizona to be closer to Ms. Armstrong’s parents. Since moving to Scottsdale, she has worked at the International School of Arizona teaching middle school English and Social Studies. During this time, Ms. Armstrong greatly missed being a part of the IB community and was thrilled to learn that a coordinator position existed here in Arizona. She is very excited to be joining our team!
In Ms. Armstrong’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. Her email is sarmstrong@susd.org. Please do not hesitate to contact her with any questions about the IB. She is looking forward to getting to know everyone in our community.
