Message From Superintendent Mueller
Happy Friday, CUSD!
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the parent engagement webinar series co-sponsored with Rady Children’s Hospital last week. If you couldn’t make it but are interested in learning more, a recording of the excellent discussion led by Dr. Katherine Nguyen Williams is available here: Building Blocks of Resiliency
As the State of California phases into a universal transitional kindergarten program, preschool and TK age eligibility requirements and other changes to our preschool programming will begin next year. If you have children (or friends with children) entering any level of pre-kindergarten please attend our Zoom meeting next Tuesday, May 17 at 5pm. See the flyer below for the meeting link and to submit questions in advance.
Our May Governing Board meeting is on Thursday, May 19, at 4pm. Staff will present a first read of the district’s updated Long Range Plan. Input from community, parents, and staff have been incorporated into the revised LRP. The meeting agenda will be available Monday at 4pm HERE.
Beginning on Monday we will celebrate Classified School Employees Week. Our Classified staff contribution to the district cannot be overstated. We are so grateful for our amazing librarians and IT staff, our caring nurses and Child Nutrition Service staff, our hardworking Maintenance & Operations crew, our dedicated Instructional Aides and preschool workers, and our indispensable front office staff. They represent the face and backbone of our district and do so with enthusiasm, professionalism, and pride.
As high school spring sports enter into the postseason, we are excited to host both Girls and Boys CIF Division 1 Lacrosse Quarterfinal games at home this Saturday. The girls lax team enters the playoffs as the #1 seed, and the boys team is the #2 seed. Please come out and support these two great teams in a double-header on Saturday night at CHS Niedermeyer Field. Girls play at 5pm and boys at 7pm. Admission is free - let’s pack the stands! Go Islanders!
Have a great weekend,
Karl J. Mueller
