Sycamore Community Schools and SHP Leading Design have begun Phase IV of our Master Facility Process. Administrators and architects are actively setting project goals and objectives as well as establish overall project parameters.

Predesign Phase (Program Validation & Facility Assessment)

In December, SHP met with building leaders to review the complete program of requirements including the number and square footage requirements for classrooms, fine arts spaces, cafeteria, gymnasiums, office, and technology needs. The district also held its first Community Design Team meeting since the November 5 election with a select group of stakeholders.

Schematic Design Phase

In January, SHP plans to meet with staff at Symmes Elementary, E.H. Greene Intermediate, Sycamore Junior High, and Sycamore High School to gather information about needs. SHP will also gather information from Maintenance, Child Nutrition, Special Education, and Technology staff. These design teams along with the Community Design Team will work closely with SHP to develop the new building designs.

Happy Holidays Around the World From Sycamore Schools

Preparing for Winter Weather

Sycamore Schools are prepared for our first snow day of the year. If meteorologists warn winter weather is on the way, a team of administrators will drive the local roads overnight to determine whether or not it is safe for our school buses, students, and staff to travel to school. Calls will be made no earlier than 5:00 a.m. and no later than 10:00 p.m.

The district put out a test call in early December. If you did not receive a call or text, please check your primary phone number and email entered in Final Forms. Then, contact the front office at your child’s school to ensure your new contact information is manually updated in our system.

We will also communicate delays and closings to you through local media, social media, text messages, and our website. Download the Sycamore Community Schools mobile app today to be the first to know about closures and delays via our push notifications. You can also follow @TopAviator and @AviatorOps on Twitter for updates live on the roads.

It is anyone's guess when we will have our first snow day of the 2019-2020 school year. Make your prediction below for a chance to win some sweet Sycamore swag!
