Message from Administration
"Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is." - Jessica Harrelson
Dear NMES Families,
Happy Spring! As we welcome a new season, a new month and our final quarter of learning, the school will be buzzing with important and fun activities for our students. Attendance is critically important for this reason and more. Please be sure your healthy child is present at school each and every day. Our school day promptly starts at 9:00 so ensuring your child is here before 9:00 helps them to have a strong start to the day.
The Maryland State Department of Education publicly reports each schools' Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) accountability data. Attendance is part of our federal accountability requirements. Our school, like all schools, receives a score/rating for our attendance rate and this contributes to our overall school rating. Other ratings include academic measures. Chronic absenteeism is part of the attendance data. A chronically absent student is one who misses 10% or more of school days. This includes excused and unexcused absences.
How can you help? Be sure your healthy child is at school every day on time prior to our 9:00 start time. Scheduling appointments before or after school or on days off school is also very helpful. We want our Wolves at school learning and growing each and every day!
We appreciate your support in helping NMES to be the best school possible!
Mr. Bowser - Principal
Mrs. McGaha - Assistant Principal

Staff Spotlight: Get to Know Mary Myers
What are your main job responsibilities? My main job responsibility is serving a nutritious, tasty breakfast and lunch to all the wolf cubs of NMES.
What do you most enjoy about your role at NMES? I enjoy making a difference in the children's lives. By serving them the fuel they need to grow strong in mind and body. I love being greeted with many smiles, good mornings, how are you' s and have a great day.
What is a fun fact about you that you would like to share with the NMES community? In my spare time I enjoy playing with my 4 dogs. I have 2 Rottweilers (Sasha and Kira), 1 great Dane (Bella) and a chihuahua (Mia). I also love to travel with my husband. We recently went to Hawaii!
Other interesting information about Mrs. Myers: I have been a cafeteria manager for 15 years. All FCPS students and staff have been through so much over the past 2 years but continue to persevere. The staff are so supportive of me. When in a pinch they're always willing to lend a hand. I'm proud to say I'm part of the NMES community.
